We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here and returned a second time while staying in town. The atmosphere invites one to linger, to savor the flavors, to share the plates, to enjoy the wines. Several different people waited on us, and all were professional and polite. While the menu changes seasonally, I can highly recommend the beef stew (rich, complex flavors), the pork belly with cabbage (every bite is delicious), the cold starter pizza with scallops (fresh and wafer thin) and the cheese platter for dessert with the oh so yummy sauce. The shrimp croquettes were the best I have had and the jambon balls with sauce were definitely on point. We paired each bite with a wine so that we could enjoy the experience further. We booked a table for two, which was good as when we arrived it was busy. The atmosphere was immediately very nice and the staff made us feel at home.

They have embraced the concept of food sharing, which was expressed by a menu of small dishes, similar to tapas. The menu is unique because they have a variety of croquettes, of which some are a weekly special. We especially enjoyed the mushroom-truffle croquet. Another Dutch snack is the tartare, which we also ordered. All of the dishes were presented very well and were served with a small salad that was fresh and had a nice dressing. Alongside the food we enjoyed a nice red wine.

We ended up trying so many dishes we did not order a dessert. We did leave the bistro however with a sweat taste as the staff offered us a delicious bonbon.

Tired, frozen and completely unfamiliar with the area, we stopped off at the bistro very early in the evening, actually only intending to have a few "bitterballen" and a glass of wine. The idea of offering all dishes to share is simply great and the kitchen can offer much more than just fried food. The "cold pizza" on a papadam base topped with scallops, wasabi and vanilla is a revelation, and the Asian salad is extremely tasty. Even when ordering wines by the glass, the bottle and tasting sip are presented at the table in advance.
