Restaurant iZZi — Restaurant in Nijmegen

After a long transit, we stumbled in hungry to this place and man - were we happy that we did! After seeing a decent review score, I persuaded my company (who thought it might be too pricey) to dine here. The interior was classy and elegant yet comfy, which is a hard spot to catch. Sound was well isolated as the place was packed yet we could easily keep a conversation.

Although the menu shared platter and warm starters did not sufficiently reflect just how much deepfried the food would be, the perfect grill applied combined with love and fantastic presentation more than weighed up for that.

What added value to earn a top score was the service combined with the dessert. The chocolate kiss was a sushi fusion and the wasabi explosion another excellent example of a dessert executed to perfection. To elevate the dish, home made ice cream would be the next step. Finally we complimented the chef and the server asked us to share the word. The fact that we already decided to review the place just shows that this place cares for honest reviews and feedback from real customers. Kudos for that!

This is a place for those who love creative food and values...

Asian-fusion restaurant — food quality was decent but quantity to be desired.. in order to be full (2 small sized females), you need to spend at least €40 each to be satiated. The poke bowl being €15 was so pathetically small, worsened by being played in a huge bamboo bowl, we question the rationale. The service was also extremely poor, with only 2 servers having to cater to everyone on a Sunday night. We had to wait for at least 10 minutes every time we wanted to get someone’s attention, it was almost like they didn’t want to make eye contact with you because they could only focus on one thing at a time. I’ve been a server, done that. Overall experience was acceptable for a one-off, unfortunately...

Sadly not a very pleasant experience. The entirety of the restaurant doesn't appeal to me, since its quite dark. Some would call it cosy and high class, but for a number of reasons I won't. The staff tries to be nice, but they gave this distinct feel of 'we don't want to work here'. The sushi isn't bad, but not on par if you look at the price. The 'amuse' was amusing because it was more of a joke. It was one mini shrimp with a tiny pluck of this green seaweed stuff. My advice is to rather not to serve anything then, please. Furthermore the acoustics of the space didn't do anything good with the sounds of our noisy table-neighbours.
