We're on an island so you go eat fish . . . not beef and right near Harbor House on Aruba we find Anker Fish Co., and it is a good find.
The place was clean, staff was friendly and helpful, prices were not outrageous and value was received. I would caution, the sides will easily feed two so be cautious.
I ordered grouper blackened and Susan had Grouper deep fried. Mine was cooked perfectly and the spice level was good. Susan said her fish was a little dry and that she should have thought about that with "deep fried". We had calamari to begin and the tenderness and breading were perfect. Susan ordered plantains as a side and loved them. I ordered Fries and Pan Bati, an Aruban type of corn bread that was really sweet and delicious smothered in a melty cheese. Clearly WAY too many fries, so we are going to take the remnants of both back to the condo and repurpose another day in another meal.
Wine selection was reasonable, prices were as well. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will go back another day. Sorry for the photo, I forgot until we were well into the demolition...
Read moreWe went here for lunch today September 6th, this place and the staff exceeded our expectations. We ordered a Whole snapper to share me and my wife, they recommended authentic sides so we ordered the PAN BATI ( crispy sweet fried bread, amazing paired with their papaya hot sauce !!) We also ordered fries ( seasoned with a delicious mix of spices, super nice touch and flavors! ) and the Market Veggies. The snapper came with a nice sauce on the side, we had our snapper fried but you can ask for grilled, the snapped was well seasoned and the skin was crispy, it was a big fish and we both had great portions out of it. The staff was super nice and checked if everything was good and we had some nice chats on the different fish they have on the menu. Highly recommend ! Our waiter Andy was so nice and hats off to the Chef Deivis for his very nicely balanced touch of seasoning and well cooked snapper ! We are here for a week high chance I go again for a...
Read moreWanted to eat here but the servers wouldn’t acknowledge us. There were only four other tables seated, and three servers working, so I’m not sure the problem. All I know is we waited 10 minutes, no water, no acknowledgment from staff, even though I waved at them several times with a polite smile. Then finally I got up and went to the front counter bar and asked to be waited on, but treated extremely disrespectfully.
One staff member treated me really poorly. I told him where we were sitting but he questioned me several times as though I was lying. The restaurant was not busy by any measure.
We got up to leave. They absolutely did not try to stop us. I think the prices here are very high but we were eager to pay them. We just wanted to have a nice lunch.
We ended up at Lucy’s, a block away, and we had wonderful ceviche and blackened fresh catch of the day. We were treated well and the food was brought out quickly. The ceviche was...
