Cozy little family owned restaurant near super foods and low-rise resort and hotel area. Why take a long taxi drive when you have such a great breakfast spot so close to you. The Dutch style pancakes were great. The coffee and coffee rinks were awesome. My wife loves the authentic Arabian breakfast. I loved the island style pancakes with fresh fruit, and my daughter loved the apples and cinnamon. Everything was great and was a great price. We even got to meet Mel herself. Locals were eating there, so you know it is a great hidden gem. Do not let this little restaurant fool you. Please give it a try.
We were able to wall in about 5 or 10 minutes slowly from LA Cabana.
Let's make this place a new tradition in this area and help out this lovely lady and her family.
When we come back to Aruba, we will be back for sure!!!! Good luck Mel. Spread the word to those hotels and resorts and let them know how great of a place they have near them. Happy tourists and customers with a good breakfast nearby bring the tourists back to them too. Some things are off the menu if you ask, like the ice coffee they made my daughter and the lovely sausage I ordered with...
Read moreA true hidden gem!! Mel’s is a MUST visit in Aruba! The best Dutch pancakes on the island. The shop is unassuming and tucked back in a small shopping center. Both the food and service is amazing! Such kind and sweet workers. The shop is native owned, and it feels great to support something truly local.
We had the Dutch Sunset pancake (cinnamon and apples), the poffertjes (mini puffed pancakes) with strawberries, scrambled eggs and the best hashbrowns I’ve ever had! We googled all the other places to get Dutch pancakes and ended up going here because it was on the way for our day’s plans… so glad we did!!
It’s centrally located on the western side about halfway up the coast near Eagle beach. It would be a great place to pop in before a day at the beach, and PERFECTLY located if you’re headed to the Aloe factory. Make sure to add Mel’s to...
Read moreWe went looking for breakfast this morning, and this was the closest place. They had a 4.9 rating with over 100 reviews on Google. And since they weren't even listed as a place you could check in at on Facebook, it screamed being a great local place.
And boy, did we hit the jackpot. Everything we had was sooooooo good. Carrie had a banana and Nutella Dutch pancake, and I had the Arubian breakfast. I added some hash browns, and Carrie added some bacon.
Every mouthful was amazing. There's a reason we love Mom & Pop places over chains, and this gem is a perfect example.
We also happened to be their first customers ever from Arkansas. So yay us!
Great vibe, amazing food, and delightful and helpful staff. Can't rate this place...
