Expect a 3hr+ dinner. I understand that they're cooking al minute with "exotic ingredients," but we did the tasting menu and it was at least an hour until we got our amuse-bouche and about 25-40min between courses. I'm all for leisure dining but this was way too slow. My wife and I finished our bottle of wine by the second course (and we were sipping). We have done 15 course tasting menus that were done in 2.5hrs (Italy, Portugal, Holland, England, NYC, etc) 5 courses should not take that long. I could maybe forgive the tempo if it was a packed house but at no time were there more than 6 tables seated. I'll give kudos to our server who was very polite and courteous, especially since he was the only one manning the house (front of the house, taking orders, bartender, sommelier, busser), but something needs to change in the kitchen. Expect "island time" and then some if you're coming here. Pictured below: 1st course lamb, 3rd course escargot, 5th course chocolate mouse (which was clearly made ahead of time but still took 25min to come out) Not pictured: 2nd course cream of mushroom soup (while good, took 25min to come out and was already on the menu), 4th course unicorn fish (waited 45min for an exotic, over salted fish). This review seems harsh, but if you read all my other reviews I give credit where it's due and am honest when it's not. Unfortunately, this restaurant is on the wrong side of...
Read moreWhat a hidden gem in Aruba! This is our 2nd year returning to this restaurant and we were not disappointed! It features fantastic French food and is also kid-friendly so the whole meal can have an elevated meal together! The meal began with an amuse bouche from the kitchen (delightful tuna bites), then we had beef carpaccio with duck liver as an appetizer, they had a mustard soup special (definitely give it a try!) as well as the classic Onion soup with Gouda cheese on top, then for entrees I had the rack of lamb, and for dessert we couldn’t decide which dessert to get, so we got the Desert lover, which comes with both a miniature chocolate soufflé as well as crème brûlée and vanilla ice cream. So delicious! The drinks were great as well - a French 75 to start, great French wine options for dinner, and an espresso martini (and specialty coffees) for dessert! The chef is very personable and came out to talk to our table, just like she did last year, and even had a handmade Mickey high chair ready for my son when we arrived. A beautiful night of dining with our family! We will definitely be back...
Read moreOutstanding. We had the escargot, french onion soup, grilled grouper, seared duck breast, and Grand Marnier souffle; sharing the appetizer, soup, and dessert. More than enough for two, and I can only say all were wonderful. Can't understand why the restaurant wasn't packed, given the excellent food and service at a comparatively bargain price. Our tab was less than $200, including a nice Bordeaux bottle and a cognac with dessert. Never expected to find a place like this in downtown Orangestad. But it took some digging, as it doesn't show up on searches easily, which is really too bad. Don't know how the Google search algorithm works, and I'd guess restaurants paying more probably get more exposure? If you like very good French oriented food, please give it a try. There are many other non-French options as well, but this was our last night in town, so can't comment. But if they can do classic French that well, I wouldn't hesitate. You...
