Went there for a workday breakfast around 10. Inside was not crowded, and service was good, staff was friendly. I had breakfast and some desserts, I will say average person will be pleased with the food served, and will be satisfied with the service if they go there in the morning during a weekday (can't say anything about other times) . Advice for breakfast: order 'serpme' breakfast, which includes variety of cheese, olives, menemen (egg cooked with tomatoes and green pepper), honey, different kinds of meze's for breakfast, bread, börek, and Turkish tea. Portion was big, and taste of everything was very good even compared to one you will have in Turkey. Also had 'gözleme' with spinach and white cheese, delicious, and again portion was big, so I think one portion of gözleme can fill an average person. Advice for desert: 'kazandibi' was very delicious, not exactly how it will be in Turkey, but good enough and delicious on its own. 'şöbiyet' was also very good, a lot of pistachio inside. Did not try 'baklava' but since şöbiyet was good, probably baklava is also good. If you prefer less pistachio and more crunchines, baklava is a good option. 'profiterol' was good, the dough and cream inside it were as it should be (from my perspective), the souce on the profiterol was a little puding like instead of chocolate souce (which I prefer), but...
Read moreTerrible service, we were asked to wait in line outside till they can seat us, which is of course fine. But then when 2 people cut the line and just took their seats inside without waiting, we asked the the employees to uphold fairness as we had been waiting for a while.
Our protests were met with different excuses like that they didnt want to seat two men (us) next to two women, and were fine seating the man-woman couple who cut the line next to them. After we pointed out that this didnt make sense we suddenly got told that they made a reservation, which clearly is a blatant lie because there is no reservation option on the Şerifoglu website (at least for this location).
We eventually decided to drop the issue because we finally got seated (after which they als seated 4 women at the table next to us). We had our order, and enjoyed our desserts, and when we were ready to pay our bills we were asked to stand in line (outside) and pay at the register, which obviously was a logistical nightmare.
The desserts ultimately were fine, but I cannot recommend this restaurant as the servive truly was dissapointing, and we did not get as much as an apology for the...
Read moreSome shopkeepers in Turkey rip off tourists, I also experienced something similar today. I bought “midye baklava” from here about 2 hours ago. Since I did not know whether the employee who works in cash desk spoke Turkish or not, I placed my order in English. The employee weighed it, the screen showed €14.81 at first, then it suddenly turned into €15.86. I thought, I guess she reweighed, the previous one was wrong. Then we made the payment. She asked if we wanted a receipt, we said we want. There were 2 separate receipts in front of her. She looked at both of them and said "oh, sister!" The employee next to her called out to her friend. Then she said "never mind, never mind", wished us a good evening and gave us our dessert. There she realized that she overcharged the bill by €1.05 and gave the box without telling us anything to avoid any hassle. We probably made the same payment as the invoice of the customer before us. You can see that it says "çimdik fistikli baklava" on the receipt. €1.05 won’t make me bankrupt and it won’t make you rich either, but honesty is everything. I will definitely never shop at any branch of...
