Very nice decor and space, tables are large and even for two, the smallest table seems to be for four people, so it's very conveniant. Autumn leaves (not real ones obviously) separate the space in a charming manner. Washroom is clean.
Service was very good, every one was friendly and explained as much as we requested or needed! We interacted with a couple of waiters throughout our time, every one was friendly, one was even apologizing for one sashimi set coming a bit late, even if it wasn't really!
Food and portions were really generous. We started by the A5 Wagyu 100g grill piece, medium rare. It is both very crispy on the outside, and melting in the inside. This combination is great and made the fat not overwhelming.
We then had the large sashimi set, which is very well presented and has more pieces than we initially expected (note that there is no set number of pieces, it's the total weight you pay for). The scallops are good, creamy and tasty. The bluefin toro is fat, a bit more chewy than expected. Every other pieces are generous both in size and taste. The wasabi is not a paste but kizami (chopped wasabi), which adds a crunchy texture.
Finally, we had the AH-UN wagyu special set, there were 24 pieces composed of different parts. The ox-tongue is my favorite, both chewy and softly melting in your mouth! Eating as many wagyu pieces can be overwhelming for your tastebuds as the fat is very present, but there were some pieces with little to no fat which are usually less appreciated, but in this case, it created a nice balance to the set. Side dishes are nice, maybe a little bit more vegetables in the set would be welcome, but this is nitpicking.
Lastly, for this "3-course meal", even if it was composed of the most expensive choices of the menu, the quantity was generous and the quality was there, so I feel it was well worth the price. This was a special occasion so we had some extras, but you can have a very nice meal at a lesser price here, which is very nice. We'll probably come...
Read moreWe have been here to celebrate the bday if my sister and what a joy to have celebrate it an AH-UN.
We started with some cocktails to get the part starting. The quality of the cocktails could be better, but take into consideration that we consider ourselves as amateur mixologists. On of our hobby’s is to make high quality cocktails. So perhaps that is not completely fair. Nevertheless the cocktails tasted good.
We ordered our food which was a combination of the BBQ and sushi. The staff was so friendly and guided us to menu card and gave advice what we could order and also in which quantity (we were with 6 people). We had broken our order up in three parts to enjoy the food to the fullest.
We started with sushi and sashimi. The sashimi was the mix platter were the star of the platter was the bluefin torro tuna (premium fatty tuna). This has one of the best sashimis one can get in Rotterdam. The sushi was not bad at all, if I may give a tip to bring more harmony in quality standards is to use ‘crab meat’ rather than the surimi sticks. I believe that the surimi sticks are not representing the high quality standards AH-UN wants to deliver.
After the sushi we continued with some fried chicken, meat skewers and of course the highlight of the evening, BBQ. The BBQ choice comes rice, salad, soup and kimchi. We had taken the Wagyu set and the Tokyo set to also have some diversity in meats. Obviously quality of the meat was impeccable. The meats were accompanying with two sauces (sweet/sour and spicy) and salt/lemon.
We had called it a night with the grand dessert.
We really enjoyed the friendly and warmth of the service. The staff did their best to make us feel comfortable, which we of course appreciated a lot. We wanted therefore thank the kitchen and front staff again for an...
Read moreMy family (so 4 of us) was visiting Rotterdam and I’ve been eyeing this place on the street because the logo looks cool so I reserved it and came here.
We started with some salmon sashimi and that was delicious. Super fresh and lovely. Then we had some Agadeshi Tofu that was just okay. Then we had some extra ox tongue and 3 wagyu set. It was delicious!! The Wagyu was very good quality and the ox tongue was sublime. All the pieces in the set were very very good. One downside was I think it would’ve been nicer if the grill wasn’t an electric coil grill but that’s a very minute nitpicky complaint. We then had dessert and for me sesame is my go to Asian ice cream flavor. What caught me off guard was I was expecting just ice cream but it came in this amazing bowl with amazing toppings. There was a crunchy surprise under the bowl! That blew my mind.
This is definitely one of the pricier places in Rotterdam, but for good reasons. Product seems to be of top quality makes it worth it. When my mom visits again, I’ll...
