The restaurant has the most beautiful location, directly next to the Maas and Erasmus bridge. Upon entering, one feels that it is a somewhat fancy restaurant, but maybe that had something to do with a large group of suits that were having dinner. After being seated we ordered our drinks, which came quite quickly. So far we were still content.
However, we never received a menu and only by grabbing it ourselves were we able to decide on what to eat. The menu is not too big, which makes choosing relatively simple. But since one has to wait for a waiter anyway, there is more than enough time to make a choice. Looking at the options and prices, we expected good dishes. Unfortunately, only one of us had something he was completely happy with, namely the Wagyu Burger. Two guys ordered the Bavette, cooked rare, but received them medium at best. Their side salad was quite good though. The asian chicken looks promising, but only stating that it was dry would be a compliment for the dish. The noodles were swimming in sauce and veggies completely lost their bite.
All this would not have been such a big deal if the restaurant would not charge as much as they do: almost always more than 20€ per dish. All in all, I would not recommend going here for dinner. However, having drinks on their terrace is really nice, especially if the sun is...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to see in the New Year at Bar Prachtig which was a wonderful experience. They put on a 5-course gala dinner with drinks, dancing and delicious food. This was a made very enjoyable by the excellent and attentive staff before being topped off by the Erasmus Bridge fireworks show.
Obviously this wasn't an inexpensive evening but the restaurant was packed with everyone having a good time. We also had an excellent table by the window where we could look over the river and see all of the little firework shows. Then, of course, all we had to do was walk outside for the main event.
What's also memorable is that the food was excellent and served at a very relaxed pace. This meant that the time went by very easily despite us being in place for over five hours. The only criticism that I can find is that the vegetarian main meal could have been more interesting but it was still very enjoyable.
So I think that if you're looking to relax in a place that offers a perfect view then you won't be disappointed by Bar Prachtig. The staff are very welcoming and it's a really lovely place inside. Even better the acoustics are excellent so we were able to have a normal conversation despite both the buzz of the crowd and lively disco music. That's quite an...
Read moreThis is a great place to grab lunch....after enjoying a boat tour of the harbour and learning a bit of history, we worked up an appetite!
Prachtig is a delightful bar and restaurant. We ate on the terrace given the lovely weather. The service was excellent! As it was a quick lunch (and the kids were exhausted), we opted to go directly into our mains. The steamed buns and crispy chicken was tasty..it was a little of a smaller portion than expected, so I'd recommend a side of fries or salad to go with it. The kids both wanted burgers. They looked great, and both boys described their meals. DELICIOUS! My partner went for the Bruschetta, which he said was very nice..it comes with parma ham and chirzo on the side. Drinks were simple soft drinks and water. I did try the virgin Passion Fruit Mojito, which was nice. The cocktail menu is extensive and looked worthy of a try for sure. Service was quick...
