Really disappointing. To be honest, I don't understand the high google rating for this place at all. The quality and quantity of dishes, and especially service part was just awful. I and my friend loves Mexican food and wanted to try a new place. Also for the reason that we support small neighborhood businesses.
First of all, my drink was served AFTER we finished our food which is ridiculous when it comes to service standard.
The menu clearly stated that all tacos, quesadillas and tostadas are served "2 st" with salad. We both got one tostada per person, no salad. We mentioned that to the owner guy, he tried to make up a story like "oh, the menu is new, let me see, well tostada is a fried tortilla thing - yes, we know what tostada is - so you only get one piece." Didn't make any sense. He just tried to lie to us for his mistake and basically charged us 6.50 and 7.50e for each tostada. He cannot make an excuse that it was a miscommunication or language issue since we communicate them in Dutch, English and Spanish.
Look. If the menu says it, you serve it as it is, period. No lame excuses. If there's any change need to be made to the dish you're serving that are different from what the menu says, customer has the right to know. You have an obligation to explain them and confirm first before you serve. That's horeca service 101 and that's your job. Don't try to smile and lie to your customers' faces. I can't believe he still insisted that he was right and no apology for the mistake even after the bill printed with "2 st" for tostada. Complete rip off for the less than mediocre flavored dishes.
Also ordered tacos al pastor since one tostada was just too small and we were still hungry. Both tortilla and meat were so dried and hard. Totopos they serve are not even real homemade totopos. I've been to many taquerias but by far this is the worst. Especially I'm disappointed with the attitude and dishonesty. There are better quality taquerias in Rotterdam for sure I can name a few. This is not an authentic quality Mexican, never going back. Don't recommend at all. At least it's a family friendly atmosphere, for that I have one more star but other than that, it would've been...
Read moreI rate this restaurant a 3.5 out of 5. The flavor is there, the drinks were nice, and the staff is certainly hospitable. However, service was a bit too slow and the amount of food is simply too little for the price.
Last Friday we had the vegan 'Share with friends special' for €37,50, which the waitress suggested is a good dinner option when wanting to try different things for when you are with two.
Unfortunately, the amount we received for the price is way too little. We received some Guacamole, totopos, a tiny bit of salad, and 6 small tacos (as in the smallest you purchase at an Albert Heijn), two filled with some fried paprika, two filled with some fried mushrooms, and two filled with cactus. The tacos were filled quite meagerly, it seemed that the kitchen understands the veg option as 'just leave out the meat'. Other than that the flavor was quite nice and authentic, though nothing out of the ordinary.
Additionally, the restaurant was quite busy this Friday and it seemed both the kitchen and staff couldn't really keep up. Even though we had a reservation it took 15-20 minutes after we sat down before we could make an order. After ordering it took around 15 minutes to get our drinks, 30 minutes to get our guacamole, and 45 minutes to get the tacos. The waitress forgot our cutlery which took another 5 minutes.
Admittedly, this resulted in a bit of a letdown, as we were definitely looking forward to this restaurant, and the promise of (vegan) Mexican food with an authentic taste. The taste definitely delivered, you can tell the owners are passionate about Mexican food and the hospitality is certainly there. However, with the amount we received for the price (Just shy of €20,- for three small tacos with some vegetables and a bit of Guac and a tiny salad per person), together with the slow service, I simply can't recommend this restaurant right now to other vegan/vegetarian lovers of Mexican food. In the end, we had to some fries at the train station to feel...
Read moreWe had been to this restaurant a few times. We loved it and it used to have great food and the owners were super friendly, same for the staff. It was always a treat to be able to order in Spanish and to feel "home" Because of all this, my daughter had decided she wanted to celebrate her 18th bday there. We made a reservation for her Bday, ON her bday. We were earlier at the restaurant, and the doors were closed, but staff was inside. We decided not to pressure them and just wait. Eventually we realize there was a "closed" sign at the door. I called and spoke to the owner and asked what time we could get in. She first said that they had called several times and spoke to someone that the reservation was cancelled. I pointed that it was not true. The number they had was mine and I had not spoken to anyone from the restaurant. She then changed her story and said they had tried to call several times but that noone picked up. To which I replied, also not true, because I did not have any missed calls. The story changed for the 3rd time!!!! We are closed today because we have a problem with water so we cannot serve you. Yet, we could see the staff working in the kitchen! Another lie!
What a dissapointment!!!!!!
We did not of course celebrate our daughter's bday they way we had planned. And we had to find a restaurant last minute during the rush hour for restaurants in the evening.
We will NOT be going back there!!!
And if you decide to go... make sure they don't screw up your reservation!!!! Check, double check,...
