Bagels & Beans — Restaurant in The Hague

Coming from NY where bagels are a staple, bagels and beans bagels are really nothing how a bagel should be, taste and texture wise. The inside of the bagel is as hard as the outside (a freshly made bagel always has a crisp outside, soft inside with a distinct taste). Not only that, I asked for the bagel to be double toasted. It was cold and soft, not what I asked for. I asked the young lady which cream cheese she preferred and she replied with "I don't like either". Anyone whose inclined towards customer service would not say that, something more like "well I'm not fond of either, but this one seems to be popular" (note: customer service in all the Netherlands is really bad, so I don't know what else I was expecting, but still). Should have walked away after that. For 4 bucks, which is very expensive for a bagel that wasn't even made fresh that day, it was a complete disappointment. Last time I'll ever go...

Bagels & Beans never disappoints!

The service is efficient and professional. The ingredients are fresh and you get plenty with your money's worth.

Avocado bagel with chives vegan cream 'cheese' was very good and there was a lot of avocado. The cucumber slices were wonderfully crunchy, tomato and lettuce was good too and the spices were in balance (not too spicy or salty). I took the "all" bagel option and that one had a lot of seeds (I like it).

There are several vegan options on the menu and several vegan cream 'cheeses' too. Unlike some cafes that do have vegan options but lack vegan mayo or any creamy sauce and you end up watching non vegans eat their portions with sauce wondering why there was no such option for you (just saying...). So if you want to feel included and equal Bagels & Beans is a secure option! I wish more places were like this. They make equality look so easy...

I ordered a salmon bagel with extra avocado and chive cream cheese, along with a mango drink for delivery. The estimated delivery time was 25 minutes, when ordering, but the order took over an hour to arrive- despite the destination being only 4 minutes away. The delivery time kept changing from 25 to 40, then to 50 minutes, which was frustrating and disappointing.

For a €25 breakfast, I expected better service. The food itself was nice and tasty. Unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend ordering for delivery, maybe go...
