What a nice surprise for a cafe!
Even though it's located on a busy intersection, the vibe is extra chill with a cool crowd and lounge music, which is a perfect way to start the day. Pastel colors and a lot of pretty dessert cakes on display. Thoughtfully designed place.
As drink I had latte macchiato with oat milk. As food I selected the vegan BL(A)T, it was very nice with vegan bacon made out from very thin eggplant slices, in my opinion those tasted a lot like fried onion, it was a very clever alternative - much appreciated!
There was an ok amount of avocado, but not much, one half cut in slices. There was spiced vegan mayo on the bread - that was a definite plus! The bread was delicious, it took a bit of effort to cut with a knife though. But taste wise very good choice. Nice tomato slices and lettuce. There was a lot to eat and I left the restaurant satisfied with a full stomach.
I have had bread with avocado breakfast in a lot of places in The Hague and this one would probably end up in the top 3. Mostly thanks to the outstanding vegan bacon. To make it nr.1 I would personally add some crunchiness - roasted seeds, almonds etc. But I have had those additions in most places so in the case of variety leaving out crunchiness is a way to stand out among the other options as the softer one.
Too bad this cafe is not listed at Happy Cow app, it would deserve a place in the vegan friendly department. Even though there could always be more vegan options, at least there was a couple: vegan BL(A)T & I guess the mushroom salad was the other vegan option for lunch (not sure because it didn't say vegan on the menu, but the ingredients made it look like a vegan dish). With slight modifications this place could easily be listed. It would help if there was 2 vegan breakfast & 2 vegan lunch options (clearly mentioned). To be fair the menu is quite short anyway so there is not much room. Perhaps it's a tactical choice. To keep the menu short and classy. I totally get that. Anyway this is a nice option for a vegan friendly cafe (even if...
Read moreI was in this cafe a couple of months ago with my toddler and friend, my toddler messed up the floor with a cookie, when I went back in a few days later to get a takeaway coffee, the owner said " you were in here the other day and your child made a big mess on the floor" his tone and manner were not friendly and I replied " you want me leave, okay then" and I left. This is not the first time I have encountered rudeness from the owners, a few years back, I was in the cafe and I accidentally spilt warm milk over the table and some of it went into my sons stroller and he was screaming, i ran to the restroom to put cold water on my son's skin, the owner and other staff didn't show any any empathy, concern, they charged me for my meal and drink as I left the cafe to tend to my son. I e mailed the owner days later, and her response was that she regretted charging me for the meal, she did not enquire of how my son was That's my experience...
Read moreI adore this Cafe the name alone BLOSSOM, is such a lovely name. The team Blossom on entering are all super, and you know that they enjoy working there as much as I did visiting. You get a real sense of the vibe, a positive vibe and that comes from great servers who are friendly and smiling. They are so proud of their café and make the whole place Blossom wonderfully, the lovely young lady took the time to explain things to my guest from Australia, and gave us a great experience, The best latte Macchiato I’ve had in ages, cool drinks and freshly baked cakes, All lovely. The café is adorned with Blossoming plants and very eclectic with lots to look at and is in a good position to many embassies and a short walk to the Paleis Noordeinde and city center. The best thing is that they have very good coffee, and excellent food, there is a good sized and varied menu. This includes open sandwiches, salads and more. I highly...
