Best café in town so far. I come here twice per week, and I have been to every cafe in the center of The Hague.
What’s special: the location is perfect, facing the old parliament, at the angle of two mainly-pedestrian large paved streets with rows of trees on each side. You can view both streets from the inside. Also you’re by the parliament pond, a few embassies in old Dutch-style houses, Hotel des Indes, and Denneweg is right by your side.
Then: Being very difficult with food and drinks, their drinks, chocolates and cakes are among the best we have in The Hague. Be it macarons, small financiers, chocolate ganache, brownies… Only quality brands and baking. And yes I tried them all 😊 The beverages: quality drinks for all moods.
I read people complaining about the price and the service: probably trolls. The service I experienced more than 20 times is amazing. Young personnel with gorgeous smiles. Always attentive to my every request (and trust me, I’m fussy). Way above the average in The Hague (and The Netherlands!).
I come to this place also cause of its interior, it’s spacious by local standards. No squeezing chairs to make more money like the normal practice here. Peaceful. With my friends or my books, my weekend afternoons here are moments of the most beautiful rest and recharging.
What they can improve: the door is begging to be fixed. We support this righteous action 😂
Thank you for opening a proper classy café in The Hague, finally, and for the awesome...
Read morethis was my third time visiting, and while my previous experiences were great, this one was a major letdown due to poor service. i came with two friends who had never been before, and we sat down but had to ask for menus. after waiting five minutes, a couple arrived and had their orders taken before us. when i asked our waitress (an east asian woman) to take our order, she said "one second" and disappeared. after another long wait, I had to get up and find her talking to someone. when she finally took our order, she was being blunt.
our drinks arrived, but my friend's dessert was forgotten. she politely asked about it, and the waitress barely acknowledged her before serving drinks to the couple who came after us. eventually, another staff member noticed my friend waiting and helped with the missing cake. later, when we ordered cheesecake, the waitress brought it without forks. i had to ask another staff member for them, as our waitress was clearly not paying attention.
overall, the food was good, but the rude and inattentive service made this visit disappointing. i don’t know if it was an off day for the waitress or if she just didn’t care, but if i return and she’s serving, i’ll ask for...
Read moreQuality This spot in the city is a place where you should have on mind that things will be of a great quality, therefore expect it to be equally a bit pricey. I find this logical as this is what differs a place to another. This is a place where someone would choose 5 instead of 4 stars and this is because of the great interior design, really good quality of drinks and food and really friendly and helpful staff. As I live near this place, I have seen that it is mostly extremely crowded. I can understand why, but have on mind that those people should serve everyone with their best skills. So, they might be a bit late either to serve you or to take your order. When your order arrives, you will understand why it took so long. I had ordered a usual cappuccino, but this beauty arrived. The extra meringue with hazelnuts was a surprise for me. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. Have on mind to visit when not that crowded; prefere to visit...
