DE RESIDENT — Restaurant in The Hague

We had high expectations for this restaurant, unfortunately we got disappointed.

We’ve ordered ravioli with truffle and filet mignon. It was almost tasteless. Usually such pasta is cooked in creamy sauce that adds a lot of flavor. Here we just got ravioli with a lot of tasteless veggies and some random sauce from a bottle on top, looked more like a salad. The presentation is poor, I personally didn’t find it appetizing. All the same with the steak, for this dish we got fries instead of baked potato.

The lemonade is just water with syrup. I do have to say that it was only 2€ so that’s understandable, but if you expect a nice homemade real lemonade then this is not the place. Our waitress forgot to put our order in the system, for this reason we had to wait for our food way longer. They came to our table to ask for order twice, and wanted to give us drinks of other clients. They also forgot to bring us the bill after we asked. This isn’t a big deal but in this case when they’ve been messing up and forgetting stuff all the time it does matter and I think it’s an important point to improve. Since 1977, De Resident has been a beloved staple in The Hague, serving up the best and most tender spareribs in town, pure satisfaction in every bite! 🤤

We always kick off our meal with their must-try cheesy garlic bread, served piping hot! The gooey melted cheese paired with a crispy exterior is simply irresistible. 🧄🧀 For starters, we indulged in the wagyu carpaccio drizzled with truffle mayo and Grana Padano, plus shrimp sautéed in olive oil and garlic with the perfect hint of spice.

For the main event, it’s all about the Resident Ribs! This time, we couldn’t resist the mixed grill either, a fantastic choice if you’re craving a little bit of everything: ribs, tenderloin, lamb chops, and chicken fillet, all bursting with flavor. 🍖🔥

We capped off the night with our favorite dessert: vanilla ice cream drizzled with warm chocolate sauce, a sweet finale to an unforgettable meal! 🍨❤️
