we have been with 20 people. tapas were excellent, beautiful place, service was kind, main dish from Christmas menu was disappointing, as fish was dry and steaks were small and dry. And at the end when we have received the bill - it was unpleasant surprise. When we just came to restaurant I have asked my colleagues to remember what exactly they have ordered , so we can pay separate, as I assumed it was possible. When we have received the bill, the total amount shocked not only me. All my colleagues were surprised how come that the bill was so high, as many people had just 1-2 beers and glass of wine at the table. Not to have fight at the restaurant with other customers around, we have paid the bill and split between colleagues. Next day I have asked my colleagues what exactly they have ordered and find out that we had only 3 bottles of wine (12 glasses) at the bar and 5 bottles while eating at the table, the rest had beer or other beverage. The restaurant have counted 13 bottles of wine instead of 8. I have communicated with restaurant afterwards, with hope that they will do something about it, but without success. Anyway the bill was at least €143.75.- more than it should be. Don't go there if you don't want to be ripped off. There are better...
Read moreI visited the San Telmo Restaurant on a quiet mid-week winter night and was welcomed warmly. After a limp corporate cafeteria salad that lunchtime I was on the hunt for a big steak. I’d chosen well. I was recommended the rib eye which comes in a range of sizes, and an excellent Malbec. I'd rate the rib eye amongst the best I've ever had (and I've eaten steak in Buenos Aires on a dozen visits). The “bark” as the steak nuts call it, was top notch and seasoned perfectly with sea salt. The accompaniments were quality fries and grilled vegetables. I’ll also mention the service which was welcoming and personal. The bill was around €50 for a big steak, sides, bread and a couple of big glasses of red – very acceptable. I’m genuinely looking forward to my next business trip to Den Haag to have the opportunity of...
Read moreAfter reading so many good reviews, and having a quick look at the menu last week I decided to go as well. Our waiter was (probably) the owner, an older man. From the first choice of tapas his tone was unpleasant, pushy to choose the menu of the day and taking bigger portions. When asking about wine he said very little and dropped all the bottles on the table for us to choose. The food tasted good nonetheless so we made the most of it. When he came to clear the table he managed to knock over our bottle of wine , pouring onto one of our laps. Not even the word "sorry" came out. There was no compensation either, just walked off. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, and the other female waitress seemed to be very nice. Sad that this man managed to make our evening a whole lot...
