Worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. Was celebrating my 50th birthday and had to leave before finishing my meal. 1st time in my life ! Really nice waiter but the owner/chef was extremely rude to us from the start. Everytime she walked past our table she stared and looked upset. I have the impression that she did not approve of our child being at the restaurant. At a certain point my son dropped the pillow he was sitting on to make him taller and she came over quickly and took it away. I thought that she was fetching something nicer for him to sit on but she never returned. After a while I asked her about the pillow to which she furiously replied 'the pillow shouldn't be on the floor". I explained that sometimes things fall and that he needs the pillow but she kept repeating agressively "the pillow shouldnt be on the floor". The strangest interaction I've ever had. I told her that she was being very rude and she started smiling. I asked for the check and left. Very...
Read moreWow! The choice was a 4- or 6-course menu. We chose the 6 (récolte). There were also a few amuse- bouches to start us off. Individual courses are more about flavours than volume, but nobody left hungry--the biggest eater grabbed an extra bread ball that was fresh and accompanied by a lovely flavoured whipped butter that was provided in a generous quantity. I loved that a seemingly small bowl could contain a number of different taste surprises, like a salty broth combined with a citrus element for counterpoint and palate cleansing. I was always the last to finish as I wanted to stretch and savour each plate. Every course was completely unique. There was 20-30 minutes between servings, so less than 4 people (with 6 courses) might have had challenges with conversation gaps. Our chatty group had no problem filling the 3 hours.
We couldn't afford to do this too often, but I am overwhelmingly happy to have gotten to experience this...
Read moreWe go out to dinner every week and we usually pick a fine dining restaurant every quarter to go and enjoy the experience and mostly eachother's company. This time we chose Oogst and we were excited to go since it is in the city we live in and we heard great things about Oogst. Though we cannot say it was a bad experience, we can also not honestly say it was a good one either, unfortunetly. We both took the 5 course chef's menu with the wine pairing. Price wise, would be fair if the gastronomic experience would be on par. However when it comes to the gastronomic experience, we can say that the plum dessert and its espumante wine pairing was actually great, it saddens me to say that that, was the only noteworthy item from the whole menu. The service was rather uptight but it missed that extra experience factor though they were very friendly. We definitely enjoyed our evening, therefor thank you...
