We had a very disappointing and unpleasant experience here as a family with a 2-year-old child.
We were seated on a sofa where the wallpaper was already torn. During dinner, our child pulled slightly on the already damaged area (2ā3 cm). While settling the bill, a staff member (who later claimed to be the owner) approached us, saying they had checked CCTV footage and demanded that we provide our number to cover āinsuranceā for the wallpaper.
Under Dutch consumer law, customers are not responsible for pre-existing damage in a restaurant, and it is not lawful to demand insurance details without proof or agreement. This felt like someone trying to take advantage of the situation.
What made the situation unacceptable was the way he behaved: ⢠He dismissed our concerns and refused to listen. ⢠He made discriminatory remarks to my wife, saying he would only speak to me as āthe man.ā Such gender-based comments go directly against Dutch equality and anti-discrimination standards. ⢠He accused us of not raising our child properly in front of our children ⢠He first said he was staff, then claimed to be the owner, making his statements unreliable and not trustworthy. ⢠When we asked to see the footage or speak to a proper manager and he refused stating that he is no time and just provide the number or not even willing to share their names.
We paid respectfully for the food we ate, but the overall treatment was shockingādisrespectful, discriminatory, and legally unreasonable.
In the Netherlands, families should feel welcome and safe when dining out. Sadly, this was not the case here, and we cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience.
Itās a pity to know people with such disrespectful behavior still prevails. Being truthful and honest is what matters end of the day. Hoping such realizations are brought into their lives rather than trying to pursue the path...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently dined at Raniās Kitchen Open Buffet in Scheveningen, The Hague, and my experience was overwhelmingly positive. Booking a table online a few weeks in advance was seamless and efficient, setting a good tone for the visit.
We dined on Sunday, September 1st, and were pleasantly surprised by the live music that enhanced the ambiance. It added a lively and enjoyable touch to our meal.
Unfortunately, we encountered some delays due to heavy traffic and the challenge of finding parking. Concerned about our reservation, we called ahead, and I was impressed by the professionalism of the customer service team. Despite the restaurant being packed with customers, they kindly held our table, demonstrating their commitment to excellent service.
The food itself was a highlight. The BBQ selections were fresh from the Tandoor and full of flavor. We particularly enjoyed the wide variety of dishes on offer, including Biryani, a range of curry dishes, vegetable options, and street food favorites like Pani Puri, Chaat, and Samosas. The grilled fish was perfectly cooked, and the array of salads and dressings catered to all tastes. The dessert selection was equally impressive, with traditional mithai standing out as a delightful way to end the meal.
In addition to the food and service, the overall atmosphere of Raniās Kitchen was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The buffet offers great value for money, with the quality and variety of dishes encouraging frequent visits.
In conclusion, Raniās Kitchen Open Buffet is a must-visit for anyone in The Hague, whether youāre a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking to try something new. I highly recommend it and look forward to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor me this restaurant experience was a strange one! When we entered, a guy appeared to be the owner asked us if we had reservation. We did, so we gave him the details, he went in a sent the waiter. The waiter asked us the same thing again and then we were seated. The waiter was a young boy who either was new there or there is no training/guidance whatsoever (we had a similar experience with 3 boys all waiters). The waiter asked us if we wanted to drink something, on asking for the menu...he said there is no menu we provide the usual stuff to drink (what's usual stuff?) Whatever we decide to check out the buffet. We are not told anything about the buffet so we have to check ourselves. We saw the so called owner and his wife probably - greeting and explaining about the buffet to white people and some from their community but completely ignoring people like us. I don't know if this is racism or what. The lady kept visiting tables asking if everything was ok and offering naan/roti...and no one visited us...we waited for naan..went to the counter..asked where their chef/person at counter told that we need to inform the owner...absolutely strange!
The chat counter guy was the only person who seemed a little cordial rest all were so disorganized/unaware
The food was mediocre and nothing stood out to me.
The buffet spread is good but lack of taste to everything! Some of the chicken felt stale. The jalebi had sugar syrup stuck to it so I'm guessing it was either store brough or stale. None of the food items felt tasty or something that I would want to try again!
For us it was a complete waste of money, mood spoiler due to the owners behaviour and surely a not...
