Horrible experience!
I booked this hotel for the weekend via booking.com. We were supposed to go with 5 people (me and my friends). One of them got covid, so I called them to inform then and to cancel the reservation. This was not possible, I would lose all the money. So I decided to leave the friend with covid behind, and to lose the money of one person. When arriving in the hotel, during check-in, I found out that they had cancelled both of my rooms. The man behind the desk informed me that his colleague of the reservations department told him to cancel the booking, since I will probably come with one person who is covid positive.
She assumed that I would be that irresponsible, and cancelled the entire booking without any form of confirmation. Even Booking.com was not informed, and in my app the reservation was still active the entire weekend.
The hotel was also fully booked, so they had no other room available for us. Because of this, I was standing with my three other friends on the streets with our luggage's, stressed out to find ourselves another stay for the weekend in Scheveningen (super last minute, so very challenging). This ruined the rest of our evening, I did not even make it to my birthday dinner plans which I had to cancel for that evening!
A horrible experience, I will never forget! This experience will make me never book...
Read moreThe title says it all really, the location is perfect in the heart of scheveningen. A couple of minutes walk from the pier and the boulevard with restaurants and bars everywhere. Also directly opersit the Holland Casino. Also the price was crazy cheap, we payed âŹ30 for a night. That's where the good points end !!||The room itself reminded me of an operating theater. Two single beds that seemed to be like wooded surgery beds half floating. The toilet/ shower room was very frustrating as there is only one door that acts as the toilet door but also swings further and becomes the shower door aswell. Very small toilet area, not suitable for people who can not bend there knees well. The wall is about 30cm in front of the toilet. The walls are very thin and you could hear every noise in the two adjacent rooms. Also the pipes overhead in the ceiling where very noisy. There was alot of wind the night we stayed and it created alot of banging and clanging outside in the building. We where on the 4th floor so it was not just street noise. Very cold, old style double glazing with aluminium frames made the room feel very cold and again provided no sound dampening. There are no meals offered at this hotel. There are vending machines and a coffee machine by the reception for a price! All in all 2.5/5 purely because of...
Read moreLovely simple hotel. Stayed here with 2 guest, and we are not well spoken in Dutch. The staff were all accommodating and spoke English well. We arrived about 1.5 hours too early, due to transit availability, and the staff was kind enough to check for a room that was already prepped, and let us check in early with no additional fees.
The room was nice, the location was nice, there was plenty in the area to do. Had the beach, De Pier, Restaurants, and some shops and a laundromat within a ten minute walk. Transit stations were nearby, and we only had a 20 minute or so transit ride to most things on our itinerary, including the Peace Palace, Madurodam, and the Japanese Gardens.
The room was simple, but nice, and modern. Hard floors, quiet, comfy beds, nice spacious shower, and nice washroom overall. The room also has Air Conditioning, a rarity in Europe. No refrigerator, but that is fairly common in the area, just don't overorder at the restaurant! Three separate beds, with the large one being an actual single mattress, again, a rarity. Staff left us alone for our 3 night stay, but were helpful when we needed to resupply our room. There is also a nice little cafe/restaurant attached to the hotel.
Overall, I would gladly stay here again, and would recommend...
