The Fat Mermaid — Restaurant in The Hague

I really liked the food here. We went on one of the rare warm days and managed to snag a table on the beach. Feet in the sand and all. It was somehow not as crowded as the places further along the beach even though it’s better! The service was slow but we were generally relaxed like everyone else around so it wasn’t a big deal. Tacos with spare rib meat were so yummy and nice portion sizes. We had to ask a few times for more bread—which was silly since they brought up this huge platter of dips and spreads with like three slices—but it always came and no one complained or charged us extra. I tried one of their cocktails and liked it, something with watermelon. Overall it was a nice day. My only complaint, which I obviously won’t dock the place for, was the hundred or so lady bugs flying around the table, on the umbrella, on our clothes and in the general area lol. Quick, delicious, and super cute little restaurant right by the beach. My family and I stopped by here for Mother's Day. I saw that they had fish tacos, so that was what I had ordered. For me it was good, being originally from California where fish tacos are king, these somewhat hit the spot, the shell was a hard corn tortilla and the fish was grilled but not breaded, and it was topped with fresh Pico de Gallo of some type (fresh tomatoes, cilantro, and red onions) it was delicious. For the drink I ordered the mermaid something, I forget, but I will say it needed just a tad bit of sweetner, still I enjoyed it on the nice warm weather by the beach. The staff was great, busy as they had lots of places to sit, but they were all pretty friendly and spoke English. 😅 I'd probably come back and better more appropriate beach fashion like (as in swimsuit and all) *not that it...

We love it here! Great music, friendly service, great drinks, relaxing atmosphere and really good food! We had lemon lemonade, berry lemonade and iced tea! Definitely would recommend all of them! ✨ We we’re here for lunch and had sandwiches: pan fried toastie with farmer’s cheese and ham (definitely choose the ham as well) and mackerel on sourdough bread and cucumber. It’s so delicious! We came back for dinner because it was so good! Also they have free to use board games and we ended up playing chess the whole afternoon while sipping on our lemonades.
