I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chou Chou restaurant in Scheveningen, and it was an exceptional experience! Here's why I give this restaurant a glowing 5-star review:

Best Sushi in a Long Time: The sushi served at Chou Chou was hands down the best I've had in a long time. The fish was incredibly fresh, the rice was perfectly seasoned, and each roll was bursting with flavor. It's clear that the chefs take great pride in creating high-quality sushi.

Wide Variety of Cuisines: One of the standout features of Chou Chou is the vast array of different cuisines they offer. From Japanese to Chinese, Thai to Korean, and beyond, there's something to satisfy every palate. It's a food lover's paradise!

Good Quality: The overall quality of the dishes was impressive. Each item on the menu seemed carefully prepared with attention to detail, and the flavors were consistently excellent.

Perfect Service: The staff at Chou Chou provided top-notch service throughout our visit. They were attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with any request. It made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Ordering via Tablet: The tablet-based ordering system was a unique and convenient feature. It allowed us to browse the menu at our own pace and place our orders directly, avoiding any wait times.

Excellent Price/Value Ratio: Considering the wide selection of dishes available, the quality of the food, and the impeccable service, the price was incredibly reasonable. It's a fantastic value for the dining experience offered.

Round-based Ordering: The concept of ordering in rounds, with a new one available every 15 minutes, added an element of fun and allowed us to try a variety of dishes without feeling rushed.

One Dish per Person, Unlimited Sides: I loved the concept of ordering one main dish per person and then being able to choose as many side dishes as we wanted. It allowed for a customized and satisfying meal.

Price of €44.90 per Person: Given the quantity and quality of the food, the fixed price of €44.90 per person was more than reasonable.

Will Be Back Next Time: Without a doubt, I will be returning to Chou Chou on my next visit to Scheveningen. The overall experience was exceptional, and I can't wait to explore more of their delightful menu.

Nice location and decor. The cocktails was the best thing of the night. The food on the other hand wasn’t as expected, some dishes lacked flavour, or all had the same soy sauce flavour. When serving meat, I missed the option of how you’d like your meat to be prepared.

Service was really slow, the kitchen clearly couldn’t timely cater to all of the tables. Just as there was no overview of what was taking place at the tables.

They would service the round of dishes without removing the older plates. So we had a pile of plates a few times, which we moved to the side. They would come and serve and leave the empty plates from the previous round. We then requested service via the service button to let them know, the manager came and he answered our request quite unfriendly, made it seemed as if we were asking for too much for them to remove the plates accordingly.

While checking the bill at the end we realized that they wanted to charge us for 2 year old child who sat the whole night on her ipad.This was not discussed with us from the beginning and there wasn’t even a possibility to order for the child/4th person during our rounds. So it was unclear to us why was a child charged with no possibility to order for her during our rounds. But they clearly didn’t have enough eyes for their guests to recognize such. At the end we let the manager know and once again he was quite rude and unfriendly. Luckily his staff was more friendly and approachable than him.

I recently dined at Restaurant ChouChou with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was severely disappointing. I ordered a dish that was explicitly labeled as vegetarian. However, to my dismay, I discovered that the dish contained fish, it was confirmed by my two friends too, even though two different waiters said it should be vegetarian. This is a significant oversight, especially for customers with strict dietary restrictions, allergies or ethical choices. It's not just about personal preference; it's about trust and respect for the customer's dietary needs. Two of us had severe vomiting the same evening.

What added to my frustration was the lack of response to my follow-up email, where I detailed the issue and sought clarification. This kind of negligence and lack of accountability is unacceptable for any establishment. I also discovered they had the exact same dish but with fish so that must have been their mistake.

I urge Restaurant ChouChou to take this matter seriously and ensure that their menu and staff provide accurate information. Misleading customers about dietary information can have serious consequences, like it happened to us.
