⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely dreamy day at De Pier!
From the moment we stepped onto De Pier, we were totally enchanted. Getting there was a breeze take tram 1 or 9 from the Hague, hop off at Scheveningen strand, and you literally walk 5 minutes through the soft sand right onto the pier itself. Trust me, arriving by tram and feeling that ocean breeze sets the tone for something magical! 🌊🚋
Once onboard, you’re greeted by a vibrant mix of food stalls, lively bars, and relaxed terraces perched directly above the North Sea. My personal favourites included Beach Burgers, Beers & More juicy burgers paired with craft beer while surfers glide beneath you plus the authentic Italian Veni Vidi Pizza, and the light, organic goodies at Happy Moodz. Seriously, every bite is accompanied by that unbeatable sea view.
We even treated ourselves to a spin on SkyView, Europe’s first ferris wheel over the sea 45 m high! 🚡 The view of the 11 km long beach and The Hague skyline at sunset was breathtaking.
The location truly is the highlight waking up to the sound of waves and a view that could rival a post card. Our room was quiet, private, and with only a few suites up there, the vibe is calm and intimate.
De Pier also offers adventure options like zip‑lining, bungy jumping, and even surf lessons you can feel the energy radiating across the pier. We watched zip-liners soar at 70 km/h; so cool to witness (or join!).
Perfect for: romantic escapes, foodie days out, or fun family weekends. Whether you arrive by tram, bike, or car (there’s nearby parking), your route ends with toes in the sand and a heart full of sea-salted memories.
Tips for your trip: • Tram 1 or 9 → Scheveningen strand → 5‑min beach walk • Arrive around 10–11 AM to beat crowds and soak in morning views • Book SkyView ferris or zipline tickets in advance • Stay overnight to fully savour the ambiance & sunrise!
De Pier is hands down one of the coolest coastal experiences I’ve had in the Netherlands. From front row waves and sunset drinks to a unique on the water stay, it’s five stars through and through. Don’t miss it! 💙 #BeachLife #DePierMagic #SkyViewSunset #FoodieParadise #ScheveningenVibes...
Read moreI met this Dutch railway worker at the entry gates of the Haag(Hague) Central railway station and sought his help in getting the information regarding exact platform no. for the immediate Haarlem/Amsterdam bound train. We asked in English and he intuitively replied in broken bhojpuri and Hindi. Amazed we enquired about his country of origin. His forefathers hailed from Suriname - a small country on the northeastern coast of South America which was once a Dutch colony. This Dutch railway worker's father later shifted to the Netherlands and he was born and brought up there. The official language of Suriname 🇸🇷 is Dutch itself. He took pride in the fact that his great, great....... grandfather had come to Suriname from some Bhojpuri spoken area in Bihar. He opened up more when I told him that we were from Ranchi-erstwhile Bihar. His name was Amit Kumar and he had never been to India. He further added that most of the Hindus (between 150,000 – 200,000) currently living in the Netherlands, had migrated from Suriname – a former Dutch colony in South America. He said that as per his estimates there might be as many as 100 temples in and around Haag and the Dutch people from Suriname, with earlier roots in Bihar (India), would leave no opportunity to celebrate in Bhojpuria style -be it a religious or a wedding occasion.
Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, but Hagg (Hague) is the seat of the government. The city boasts of having the following prominent buildings/Headquarters : The Parliament of the Netherlands The International Court of Justice The World Peace Palace The World Peace Flame just adjacent to the Main Gate of the International Court of Justice - the stones sent from 197 member countries of the United Nations have been displayed here. India's contribution(stone) is at no. 79 which looks like a SHIVLING.
The infrastructure of the city is modern and superb. I spent a lot of time on city's North Sea Beach of the Atlantic Ocean looking at the sea surfers 🏄♀️ ...
