Beachclub Zeezicht Scheveningen — Restaurant in The Hague

The place looks cool. Catchy music. Chicken, fish and chips, salmon with pasta was ok, the mussels were quite good. But everything definitely overpriced making me question if it's worth it anyway. But my low review is due to the fact that my personal experience with the service was one of the worst I ever witnessed.

We waited for nearly one hour and half for our food and in the meantime other visitors who came later after us received what they ordered. One hour of long waiting my friends received their meal whereas me and my girlfriend were still waiting. After confronting this fact with the waitor he assured us that it would take 4 minutes (probably forgot about us). Waited patiently also because I don't like confronting people. But after 12 minutes past thefore breaking his promise we told him we were about to leave if we didn't get our food in 5 minutes. Luckily, for you our food was suddenly ready in 2min. Also the waiter we had didn't even bother cleaning the table although we explicitly asked him to do so.

The explanation for the delay was that there was a power outage. Far enough, I do believe that as I was informed by the news but that's still not an excuse for me why should we get our food later than the people coming after us.

Please if you are going to hire students. Give them proper training. You guys have a nice place there don't let it...

The place looks nice and has nice music playing. That's why we went there. However, unfortunately, since we arrived, there has been a series of unpleasant events that ruined our happy evening.

First, the toilet was supposed to be free, but we didn't get any "tickets" from it to get reimbursed and when we asked the staff about it, they basically said that it's our problem. The chairs were also dirty and wet (even though it didn't rain today and was way too cold for people to swim). We didn't get any cutlery with our food. We needed to fetch it from the kitchen ourselves.

Overall, the treatment and prices didn't seem very transparent. When something wasn't clear with the bill or it seemed like we paid too much, nobody was very helpful. It felt quite dismissive, like we are the problem, even though we were very polite. We would expect that when you pay so much, you could at least be treated with some level of respect. But they clearly just want your money. I never gave anyone a negative review before, but this visit ruined our evening and left a stain on an otherwise pleasant trip to the Hague.

The problem was not even the higher surcharge, but the way the staff wanted to screw us. When I asked, they didn't even address the difference from the menu. They just showed me the bill on their handheld. -.-

We ordered 2x steak and 1x appetizer (salmon) plus drinks for two people.

Appetizer: Target: According to the menu = 1x 16 EUR with garlic sauce (included). Actual: According to the bill = 1x 19 EUR + 2 EUR for the garlic sauce.

In short: Instead of 16 EUR (per person) we paid 21 EUR (+ 31%).

Main course:

Target: According to the menu = 2x 28 EUR (steak + steak sauce + fries + mayonnaise, sauces included). Actual: According to the bill = 2x 32 EUR + 2x 2 EUR steak sauce + 2x 2 EUR mayonnaise.

In short: Instead of 28 EUR (per person) per steak we paid 36 EUR. (+28%).

And last but not least: The food was Okay, but only Okay. The steak was sehning, but still tasty... The food was NEVER worth the money. And we had to wait a very long time for the food, which was definitely faster at the neighborbeten Restauraunts.
