This place is quite literally a hidden gem tucked away in an alley way in the heart of Den Haag. From the outside, it may not be much of a looker and when you step in, you are transported back to your grandparents house - giving it a real nostalgic feel. The food, “Oh. My. Days.” It is super delicious. Let me paint a picture: you walk in, unsure about where you but you see a lot of people and a small queue forming. You’re with friends so it’s all good. When the menu comes, you go for the classic bulgogi, bibimbap and meutang (fish stew with tofu). Small dishes of vegetables are served and the kimchi is immediately devoured because it’s so deliciously good, that you’re having to order extra. A portable fire stove is brought with a shiny cover for your bulgogi. Carefully, you place the meat on the top and you hear the satisfying sizzle. The thin, slivers of meat cooks quickly and you soon wrap it in a lettuce leaf with kimchi. After you take the first bite, flavours explode in your mouth that I can’t even describe- utterly amazing! The marinade on the meat is just heavenly. This is certainly my top Korean place for dinner so far!

We had dinner at Seoul Garden as a group of 10 people. It was our first time doing Korean bbq, so I don't have much to compare it to but we all enjoyed or meal and the whole experience. They brought small pancakes and a soup (free of charge) as we ordered our drinks, and we also got rice to eat with the mains. I had the tofu kimchi, the pork was well cooked and seasoned and the kimchi added a nice spiciness to the dish which you can balance with the tofu and/or rice. The bbq meat was nicely marinated, especially the pork was a big hit in our group! The atmosphere feels very cozy, but there's no proper ventilation so at the end of the day be prepared to smell like bbq meat! While the service was great, it was fast and we had no issues, do note that they don't accept credit card. You can either pay with cash or transfer to their bank account.

Exploring Seoul Garden, a Korean gem in Den Haag, led me to a charming spot tucked away in a small alley. The ambiance is really nice and warm, a delightful mix of vintage and a fusion of Dutch-Korean interior. The star of the table was the Beef Bulgogi—remarkably well-marinated and bursting with flavor. The Bulgalbi, korean beef ribs, offered a delightful combination of tenderness and toughness. The Chicken Bulgogi, while okay, didn't really steal the spotlight. The Dwenjang Chige, a soybean paste stew, stood out for its warmth, although it didn't quite align with personal preferences. Seoul Garden proves to be a culinary haven, where the Beef Bulgogi takes center stage in an ambiance that marries diverse cultural influences.

We went there just last Saturday for dinner.

Agree with all other reviews about the authenticity and deliciousness of the food (I am used to eating Korean food in Asia and this one meet my expectations). We had meat number 1,3,4, 6 from the BBQ menu for 3 adults, and we were really full. The plate for the meat doesn't look very big, but the portion is quite a lot. All the meat were well cut and very fresh. The lettuce was also super fresh and juicy.

Agree that the place is kind of small. While we were eating, the owner had to let 2-3 batches of customers to go because all the tables were full. Luckily we had a reservation. I highly recommend that, especially they only open for dinner. I saw quite some previous review that mentioned lacking of service or maybe long wait. Given that it is always full house, the service people are constantly busy, I actually find them really fast. Comparing to dutch restaurant, where you order drink first and then wait for at least 15 mins for your dish. It was a nice surprise that when we sit down, we already have soup and pancake served on the table.

Thanks for the tip about the smell.

Another tip is that if you bring young kids like we did, the easiest thing for them to eat is the pancake served at the beginning as it is not spicy and possibly binbinba if there is no chilly source. Most side dishes are too spicy for them. They also don't provide any colouring set for the kids like many Dutch restaurants do, so it is better to bring you own. And given the inside space is small, actually it is best not to bring kids there if you can :p Nevertheless, our kids still had a good time.

And it is a pity that there is no alcohol free beer.

The entrance could be a bit difficult to see when it was dark. when in doubt, just follow Google map.

And remember they only accept cash...

The worst service I have ever experienced in a Korean restaurant, worldwide.

There was no notice that only cash payments were accepted. The staff member who took the order also never mentioned this in advance, but at the time of payment, cash was required.

When I explained that, as a traveler, I didn’t have a Dutch bank account, they asked where I was staying and suggested I walk to the hotel (20–30 minutes) to exchange money, completely ignoring the unfavorable exchange rates at hotels. While sitting at the table and trying to transfer money via phone to a card that allowed cash withdrawals, the staff member came over to check on the progress only after a short delay.

All receipts are handwritten. This process takes a lot of time, and they seem unaware of how long it actually takes. For the two or three tables ahead of us that requested their bills, it took about 20 minutes after the request before they received them.

When we asked for an update about 10 minutes after requesting the bill, another staff member rudely dismissed us instead of apologizing, saying the other tables were still waiting.

The dishes were not served simultaneously. After one person in our group received their dish, it took another 15–20 minutes for the next dish for the other person to arrive. When we asked the Korean-speaking female staff member to check on the food, she didn’t even offer a single word of apology.

The kimchi was too sour, it tasted like alcohol.

The kimchi-jjigae contained almost no pork, but only two small pieces of pork belly, about the size of a finger, for a price of around 17 euros.

The ceiling appeared not to have been cleaned for decades, with a thick layer of grease and a yellowish color...

We went there with just the 2 of us on a busy saturday summer evening. Inside the restaurant, all tables were filled up and the owner came up with a creative solution to arrange an extra table for us to sit outside (1 of the benefits of summer).

Owner and staff checked on outdoor guests very frequently and there was no disruption of service throughout, very attentive.

Because we sat outside, the air was fresh and it was cool, i could imagine it would be a bit suffocating indoors with the temparature of the summer + the smoke from the grills.

Food is authentic, my wife who is a keen eater of Korean cuisine (Neither of us is Korean), felt the difference compared to other restaurants whose owners are Chinese selling Korean food. This restaurant is owned by an old and very kind Korean couple, hence the authenticity in the food.

All the side dishes are great, especially the pickled cucumber ! I like that even more than kimchi, even when kimchi is already super great.

Rice is of high quality and we could tell ! In Asian cuisines, the rice is the foundation of a good meal and this restaurant sells good rice !

There are not too many dishes to pick but each of them is really good and the serving portions fill you up properly.

All in all, highly...
