I had the pleasure of dining at Takumi, a Japanese restaurant in Den Haag, and let me tell you, it was an absolute treat!
First of all, let's talk about the ambiance. The decor was modern and chic, with pops of bright colors throughout. It felt like I had been transported to a trendy spot in Tokyo. The seating was comfortable, and everything was impeccably clean.
Now, onto the food. The standout dish for me was the ramen. I ordered the spicy ramen, and it was hands down the best I've ever had. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the broth was rich, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. The dish also came with tender pork belly and an oozy soft-boiled egg that elevated the ramen to the next level. I'm still thinking about it days later!
I also tried the gyoza, takoyaki and they didn't disappoint either. The rice was perfectly seasoned, and the fillings were fresh and delicious. Additionally, the portion sizes were generous, and I left feeling satisfied but not uncomfortably full.
The service at Takumi was also top-notch. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food came out in a timely manner. I appreciated that they took the time to explain the different dishes and make recommendations.
All in all, I would highly recommend Takumi for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Japanese cuisine in Den Haag. The food and service were both exceptional, and I'll definitely be returning to try more of their menu...

We went here and ordered a karaage curry set and a black garlic shredded pork ramen. Unlike what even their posters say they don't actually serve tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen; the broth is always chicken based although they have vegetarian options as well. Also, they advertise they serve Sapporo ramen... so I expected Sapporo-style ramen, as opposed to say Hakata-style ramen: this means miso based, usually with sweetcorn and butter and sometimes with seafood. In the end I think they advertise the fact that their noodles are produced in Sapporo. None of the ramen options actually represent Sapporo style ramen though and appear to (perhaps) cater more to European tastes, so if you're a purist you are likely to be disappointed. Same for the curry: there are several surprising variations but they do not serve katsu curry for some reason.
Now for the good news: the food you get is actually quite good. The karaage curry was really tasty, the curry well-spiced, the karaage itself not too oily and full of flavour. I thought the soup broth wasn't that bad either, and the noodles themselves are particularly good. And o yeah, Kirin ichiban on draft. We now what to expect and although it's not perfect, the quality is good and pretty affordable by Dutch restaurant standards, at €15 for a set menu main....
Read moreTakumi is hands down my favorite Ramen spot around. I’ve tried most of the ramen options on the menu and the quality remains consistent across every dish and on any day that I’ve been there. Each ramen, regardless of the variety of flavours in the bowl, you’re able to taste each one individually and enjoy how they complement each other and tie the full flavours together. This place is such a gem.
Apart from ramen, there’s also a number of dishes worth trying if you’re also in the mood for something different. Regardless of what you order, you will surely get your money’s worth in quality food. The atmosphere is also very cozy and nice. The seating options are close to each other which adds to the cozy vibe, but it’s not in a way that feels intrusive. Plus the decor inside offers a bit of the authentic feel.
If you’re looking for quality ramen, this is your spot. I...
