We only stopped for coffee/tea/chai/water on a pitstop during a kayak trip, so I didn't see the full extent of the place. I liked the cozy atmosphere though and loved the grand piano there. Everything was music themed (go figure, Muzieklokaal) and some unobtrusive jazzy piano music played in the background. The furniture was simple and reminded me of school back in the day. I saw board games next to books in the shelves, which made me want to stop back in there, unfortunately my trip to Utrecht was short, so I didn't get the chance. Animal friendly (a guest lounged there on his laptop with a dog at his feet) and a nice view of the canal....

So we came to the place at the evening, asked if we could take a drink, they said yes. After a while (like 20min) of sitting on a terrace, they came with a note that we should sit inside (where is no airco,ofc) not on a terrace.
Question - why? Why there is no note which said hours when it’s LEGAL to use a terrace?and the most important- why they didn’t tell it at the beginning?

Dutch places generally have issues with understanding the business of providing hospitality, and this place is certainly no worse than most of them. What I don't get is how they want their musical and culinary aspirations to mesh. It's a nice place, good service, good food, good music, but I think that part of it still...
