I had recently visited Veg Nation twice, a South Indian restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend this for ones who are curious to try other food options from the subcontinent beyond the usual suspects in other north indian restaurants. to give a very positive review for the restaurant, particularly for their food choices, hospitality, price, quantity of food, and interior design.
Firstly, the restaurant's food choices were outstanding. As someone who enjoys trying new cuisines, I was pleased to find a wide range of dishes on the menu, including traditional South Indian dishes like dosa, idli, and vada, as well as other regional specialties. The food was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of spice and flavor. I especially enjoyed the Ghee podi dosa, which was crispy and flavorful.
Secondly, the restaurant's hospitality was top-notch. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and always made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They were happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions we had about the menu.
Thirdly, the price of the food was very reasonable, given the quality and quantity of food that we received. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and we were all satisfied with the portions. The food was also very affordable, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. This is especially in stark contrast to the usual Indian restaurant in the city and in the country.
Fourthly, the quantity of food served was impressive. The dishes were all generously sized, which meant we could try a wide range of dishes without feeling like we had overeaten. This was great for someone like me, who likes to try lots of different things!
Finally, the restaurant's interior design was beautiful. The decor was tasteful and modern, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant was also very clean and well-maintained, which added to our overall positive experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend Veg Nation to anyone looking for great dining experience! I look forward to visiting again soon...
Read moreWe have been here twice. The first time the service was not brilliant but the food was excellent. We definitely wanted to come back. We went back today with a group of 11 people. The service was terrible. We were the only people in the restaurant for at least the first 30 minutes and yet drinks took a long time to come. Food was served sporadically and with no real sense of timing. They do not give you a menu, you use an online menu. No problem with that except it isn't a very user friendly system. You cannot go back and changing an option is difficult. We asked about allergens- specifcally for nuts and still 2 dishes were served with nuts. Even though we asked repeatedly for them to inform us of which dishes to avoid. The serving sizes are on the smaller side. On its own that's no problem but when they serve one small starter every 10 minutes you really notice it. We ordered dosa. The first time we visited the dosa was crispy and thin. This time it was flat and wet. We ordered Haka Noodles. They took a very long to arrive and when they did they were white. And served with ketchup. I ordered vegan chai. Great idea! Except it took 45 minutes to arrive. We asked for water but they didn't have any because you are not allowed to order tap water. Eventually they had no choice but to 'allow' us to drink tap water. Ridiculous. We also ordered Thali. The food was greasy and oily. Everything tasted similar. I give this restaurant 3 stars because I think the concept is wonderful and Utrecht really does not have enough 'good' Indian restaurants. However, we will not...
Read moreVery good nice food and friendly service, but some things need improvement.
The food was really nice. We got an amuse for free to start with. We still don’t know what it was, but it was really good. The rest was really nice and good portions too. 2 dishes had tomato ketchup and curry ketchup on the side, just for decoration they said. I told them that was a waste of the nice flavors, it’s not Indian and doesn’t fit.
To see the menu you need to scan a QR code, then for ordering you need to scan another QR code, very annoying, normally it’s in the same app, a lot quicker and handier.
The 2nd frontdoor doesn’t close by itself, and people kept forgetting to close it. It was quite chilly and we kept on getting up to close it. They need to install a ‘dranger’…
The music stopped halfway and it was pretty quiet that way (not many people). They still had a Xmas tree, but the lights were out.
Like I mentioned before, the service was really friendly, but gave no explanation about the food, when they brought it to the table, so we had no clue what we were eating. We had to ask for a small plate each to be a key to eat in an easier way.
So if you like a challenge, it’s...
