went to the queer in wonderland event. If i can be honest, the security guards really dampened our mood. They send you inside as soon as you finish your cigarette, interupting your conversations. Its a bit of a shame as the smoking area is usually where you get to mingle with others and they cut it short and you lose on the possibility to get to know them better. Then, after the event was over, we wanted to smoke a cigarette on the street (keep in mind thats like a 5 min activity)( and they shooed us away. We then went on the other side of the canal, sat there and talked quietly (which genuinely was the case because we wanted to be respectful to the residents) and the security guy came over the bridge, telling us the whole street is theirs at night and he was going to call the police if we dont leave right now. Funnily enough he caused an outrage which was louder than our original conversation. No idea why they have to be so hostile, completely ruined any future intent of going there again. Id be glad to see them call the police and justify that three people smoking a ciggie - not drunk, not drinking, not tripping - are doing something illegal. Felt like a power trip. Music was fine, but not my taste - but cant hate on that,...

I've seen multiple concerts in this small but excellent venue. They got something for everyone. Disco party or metal evening, no sweat for Ekko. They often serve great beers and food. There is a gender neutral toilet, good to know if you worrie about these things. Sound is good mostly, also depends on the band of course. It can get pretty loud in there, be warned. Ekko is really fun place and definitely worth recommending. Whenever I go party there I feel safe and the staff is very nice. You have big choice of events in there from all kinds of concerts to great parties. The place is not crazy big which makes it safe environment to go party and not get lost:) I really appreciate that it has smaller artists come there and give amazing shows. I will be coming back...
