During my first visit to the Netherlands, I stayed in Utrecht over the summer to take a course, and this café was my very first stop for coffee after arriving. That first cup turned into a month-long ritual—it became my go-to breakfast spot every single day.

The location is perfect, the service consistently good, and the food exactly what you want in the morning. They’re not trying to reinvent the classics; they’re simply serving well-prepared dishes made with quality ingredients. The place is always buzzing with people, which creates a lively atmosphere, and given its great location, it’s also a fantastic spot for people-watching. I always ordered the same breakfast every morning—coffee, eggs, yogurt, and pancakes—timeless classics you simply can’t beat.

I never got the chance to try their dinner menu, as I was usually in another city at night, but I often passed by in the evenings and saw the place packed. The décor follows a clean, modern kitchen style, and in a way, it reminds me of the spot I frequent two or three times a week back home. Awkward at first because I am not sure do I just sit or go in the restaurant and tell them I will sit outside. Nevertheless, they are paperless and you have to scan a barcode for the menu (I did not know this but you can use your phone camera to scan the barcode and wollah!! a pop up will appear that open's a browser where you can view the menu). We had sandwiches, coffee and beer. The food was very tasty and you get value for your money. I had a salmon sandwich and the fish was fresh. The coffee is also good, had two because it tasted that good. I have returned to this restaurant a few times because of the service, food and atmosphere. My first visit was in the winter and they have heaters and the other times in summer where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun. By the way, you can smoke outside. Speaking of outside the location is also great near a bus stop, centrally located to the Utrecht centrum. If you are in Utrecht and need to grab a bite or you want to lunch, I would definitely recommend...

Pros: Nice interior, tasty coffee, clean, professional waitress during the time we were there. My boyfriend messed up my order and I realized after few minutes and they still let me change it - thank you again. The English breakfast was tasty, nicely cooked eggs but could have done with 2 slices of bread and a bit of butter on it. 😉 All the dishes around looked really nice I have to say.

Cons: It took some time till somebody noticed us and we got seated but I understand, it's a busy place - the only "problem" with the service for us. I had Banana pancakes. They looked really nice like all the other food around so I expected a wow. However they were so dry that it was really hard to swallow. 😕 They were all crumbly, overcooked, a bit darker on the bottom but not quiet burned though. I had to soak them in my coffee to moist them as there was not enough sauce. Next time I will probably try a savory dish because maybe that's where the restaurant's strength is.
