Kyushu is a masterclass in the art of sushi, elevating the dining experience far beyond the ordinary. The sashimi and nigiri platter is an absolute triumph—a true celebration of craftsmanship and precision. Each piece of fish, whether it’s the velvety toro or the pristine snapper, is sliced with a reverence for tradition and an eye for perfection. The texture is ethereal, almost melting on the tongue, while the flavor is as clean and bracing as the sea itself. What sets Kyushu apart is its uncompromising attention to detail. The ginger tea, for example, is not some perfunctory brew, but an elegant infusion of freshly sliced ginger steeped in hot water. It is both restorative and invigorating, a perfect counterpoint to the richness of the sushi. There is no pretense at Kyushu, no shortcuts. Every element of the meal, from the delicate balance of vinegar in the rice to the careful curation of the fish, reflects a deep respect for the Japanese culinary ethos. It’s a place where technique and passion converge to create a transcendent dining experience—one that lingers in the mind long after the last piece of nigiri is gone.

We recommend the yasai futomaki, which is vegetarian and the pot of green tea. Really good quality sushi here, way better experience than eating at all you can eat restaurants. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very lovely. You can see they care about food and service. Would come back here to eat again or order it as take out.

Good and fresh food, and very friendly staff I recommend Unagi Nigiri and the Jasmin Tea We paid 50€ for 2 person. For the quality that's a reasonable price Not suited for bigger groups because the restaurant is rather small.

One of the best, if not the best Japanese restaurant in Utrecht. This is where I go every year to celebrate my birthday, because I like to treat myself.

The tender loin in teriyaki sauce is an absolute recommendation, as is the vast amount of carefully prepared sushi and sashimi.

If I want to treat myself to some Japanese cuisine, this is where I have been going for...

Excellent sushi, and very much worth a try, but quite expensive. They have a nice selection of sake, either hot or cold.

Very tiny interior with only a few tables, I believe the largest seats six. It's cozy but but not very nicely decorated. What bothered me most is that the takeaway delivery guy was constantly walking through the restaurant (moped...
