Hofman Utrecht — Restaurant in Utrecht

I was here two weeks ago on friday. There was a "Happy hour", all Spritzes 5 €, except they only had Aperol Spritz available. It was not possible to order the offer online, and later when I decided to order something else, the "app" did not work at all. I ordered sweet potato chips, they obviously were a frozen product - those soggy ones. The cheese on them was nice but stiff because the portion was not hot anymore when I got it, it was barely warm. The service was polite but slow. The Aperol Spritz is really small here, there is more ice than drink itself, and clearly less alcohol than I am use to in this drink. The sofa area outside is nice but not a reason enough to visit this place again...

Carpaccio of 2022 was nice, I don’t know if it improved thus far. Went for a drink to say goodbye to a friend that goes travel far away. No ID, got refused. Even though we had photo copy of it. Wait a minute, he said. Three people passed, no ID, with copy in photoroll they could enter without a problem. Security guy turns to us, €250,00 please. Seriously I said? Yes, it’s a tough world and we all need to eat, he said. Ok, thanks. Thanks for ruining our goodbye to a friend, thanks for abusing the situation and ask for money, thanks for being a security guy pretending to follow the rules and then breaks them...

My work reserved a larger table for a social event (30 people, not at the same time). They did explain that it's for a social event. The cafe gladly accepted but have not told us that there will be a theatre show. This put us in an awkward situation because we could not speak anymore (respect for the actors); and finding a new cafe for this many people is not possible in Utrecht on an evening. The waiters were kind but they had to be reminded constantly to take orders. It would have been a 4/5 experience if they tell us about the theatre show, but this kinda...
