This is a racist restaurant, especially for Asian people.

It's been half a month since it happened, and I'm just sorting out my sadness and hurt leaving this review.

My friends and I went to this restaurant, and the manager asked us to order at the reception table. We could not speak Dutch and asked for an English menu. She got one and threw it on the table and back to the coffee machine without any eye contact or words to us. We were so shocked by her attitude. After waiting for 1-2mins, she asked another waitress to serve us. We asked why the manager treated us like that (referring to the rude behavior and attitude). The waitress didn’t know what happened, and the manager might know we were talking about her, so she came back to us and ‘kinda apologised’ still with a rude attitude. I asked why she did that to us and if she was a racist. She replied no, she was just tired and threatened me that she was gonna cry. Then a waiter came to us and said she was a great kindly helpful female, and we shouldn’t say she is a racist (the guy even didn’t ask what happened). I asked for a phone call with the boss, they communicated in Dutch for a while, and the boss asked me for the whole thing. I explained what happened, but during the time I spoke, the boss tried to disrupt me so many times, but I just kept talking. Finally, he asked if I wanna continue this phone call, otherwise… then I stopped talking, and the boss insisted she was just tired, BUT she treated other Western customers just before us so differently and apparently not tired at all!! And the boss asked us what I wanted. I just want to be treated equally. But apparently, we could not get in GYS, so we just stopped the call and left.

Will never go to this racist...

My second visit and i still really love the food here. Compared to any food anywhere in Utrecht the price is about average, but on account that this is expertly prepared vegan food its a really excellent value. I always get the shroom steak and then try other things. In the wonter the shroom steak had a distinctly beef bourginion herb quality. This time it was a bit more tex-mex spiced and excellent both times. I highly rate it, but i have concerns about there cashless policy. It gets more and more restrictive. I dont know why they have a reason to support the hegemonic oligarchy of banking cartels to only accept card payments, but that seems to be there evolving policy. I was harrassed about cash last time i went, but it was an option. This time they accepted my payment, but with some strife and in a way that makes it clear i should not come back unless i have plastic and pay bank fees along side the cost of the meal. They still dont post on website or walls that tuey are cashless, but at time of payment they make a stink about it so that sort of taints the experience. I still thino its worth going to them for their experience... but be prepared card only or perhaps they will relax their policy. We were a bit disappointed with our experience. The dinner promo wasn't very clear — one of us ordered four small dishes thinking they were covered by the promo, but in the end had to pay for them individually because the rest of the table didn’t order the same way. Maybe we missed something on the menu, but the whole situation felt confusing and ended up being unexpectedly expensive.

Speaking of prices, we felt the small plates were overpriced for what you get. For example, €9.95 for a single piece of bread with butter, and €14.95 for just a small portion of cauliflower (around 1/5 of it) seemed excessive.

To top it off, we had to wait quite a while for our food, and noticed that other tables who arrived after us were served first. That added to the frustration.

All in all, the setting was nice but the experience didn’t quite live up to the price or expectations.

PS. This was not my first time at this restaurant. I was there in Feb for a lunch meeting and the food and prices were way better. Something changed :( Hope this feedback can help to bring us back the...
