Yesterday, we had a birthday dinner at Pitot with six people, and while the food was excellent, the service was a huge letdown.
We booked through Google at 18:00, and nowhere in the reservation did it state that we could only stay until 19:45. Even during our first order, we were reminded to hurry up so we could finish on time. The waitress repeatedly reminded us to be mindful of the time and how much we had left—every single time we ordered something.
We flagged this to the manager, explaining that it wasn’t very pleasant and that 1 hour and 45 minutes simply isn’t enough time for a group of six people to enjoy shared dining and wine. His response? He basically said he couldn’t do anything about it and that we just had to leave. Excuse me? There are plenty of things he could have done—be professional, apologize, offer a free dessert, a free drink, or even a voucher to return. Instead, he awkwardly handed us the bill and asked us to leave again because other guests were waiting for the...

Our reservation at 18:00 was greeted not with a welcome but a reminder we had just 1h45min to finish. This is not mentioned in the Google reservation and management knows this, we would have not booked it for a group otherwise. From the start, we were rushed—our appetizer barely arrived before we were pressured to order quickly “conscious of time.” We only managed one small dish each (you’re meant to have 2-3). When we tried to order one more for our vegetarian friend at 19:15, we were refused and the manager was called.
The manager’s handling was appalling—no empathy, dismissive, and even lied about calling us the next day to explain (he never did). We left hungry and went to another restaurant, which, as it turns out, frequently welcomes Pitot’s dissatisfied customers.
The food is nice, but with this management, you’ll have a better time at...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible. One of the best meals I've had in Utrecht—maybe ever. From the moment I walked into Pitot, I knew I was in for something special. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with that perfect balance between laid-back and stylish. You can tell the team puts heart into every detail—from the music to the plating. What really stood out was the creativity in every dish. It's Mediterranean street food elevated in the best way possible—fresh, bold, and made with real love. The service? Friendly, genuine, and knowledgeable. They happily explained the menu and helped us pick the perfect wine to pair with our meal. If you’re even thinking about visiting Pitot—just go. Trust me. This is the kind of place you want to come back to,...
