Another review worded it very well: if you’re looking for Spanish flavours and hospitality then you might as well fly to Spain for the same money.
The service was extremely unprofessional and the food lacked quality and authentic flavours.
Last night was the worst service I have experienced eating out. That it was a bit busy, I can understand. But that doesn’t excuse forgetting two small tapas dishes multiple times. We waited at least half an hour before asking where the remaining 2/3 dishes were, the waiter was apologetic and seemed to put in the order. After which we waited again 20-30min, so we asked again, and once more we got an apology and that it will be checked right away. All this time the other tables and even the table of 7-8 people next to us ordered (after us)and got their 2nd round of dishes before we got our 2nd dish! Finally we got the 2nd dish but the 3rd one was still missing - it’s like they still needed to fish for the gambas in Spain and fly them over boil them. Eventually after asking 4th time; getting another apology and excuse that it was busy, we got our 3rd and final dish. But the gambas were rubbery - more disappointment.
In that whole time (about 1,5hr) waiting no one checked in with us if everything was okay. Only after we got our dishes did the female employee, who is apparently the manager mention that the kitchen closing soon and if we wanted to order anything else - obviously the answer was no.
After we turned down dessert, this manager then turned up with two shots of their homemade liqueur “on the house as a little apology for the long wait”. Okay it was a little nice gesture - but a little too late. On top of that there was a fly in the beer, that she handled well and got a new one quickly.
Then when we went to pay someone wfinally asked if everything was okay. And the waiter apologised more times, which I did appreciate - he seemed genuinely sorry. Upon checking the bill, we saw they had even dared to add the extra bread we had asked for after already waiting for an hour and still waiting on those tricky gambas - come on! We should not have had to pay for those two dishes, that’s how embarrassingly long we had to wait. This manager came with the new bill, with the bread removed, but with her tone and face not in check and she never actually apologised herself and just said that it’s usually not this way - it read disingenuous. Totally unprofessional and unqualified.
I will not be spending money on that disappointment of what they call a tapas...
Read moreCecina de Leon: Good, in the end it's charcuterie, difficult to go wrong. 7/10. Croquetas de salchichón: Being from Malaga, I was expecting something similar to longaniza sausage, but they lacked flavor, were very small, and I would never have guessed they were made of salchichón. 3/10. Albóndigas: Chickpeas in the sauce? I had never seen that before in my life. They are spicy, which is not common in Spain, and the meat is pressed, which makes me think they arrive at the restaurant already formed into balls. The sauce was not good at all. 0/10. Carrillera ibérica: Well executed, tender, and falls apart. I missed more flavor in the sauce, but the orange and carrot puree complemented it well. I could find it in Spain. 7/10. Gambas al pil pil: They did not resemble the ones eaten in Spain (smaller and peeled), but they surprised me. I missed more flavor in the oil, as it was watery and not very tasty. 7.5/10. Boquerones: You can find them perfectly like this in Spain. I missed more vinegar flavor. 8/10. Bacalao: Chickpeas in the sauce again, why? Nevertheless, it was well executed and had a good texture and flavor. 7.5/10. Pollo mojo verde: I have never tried it in Spain. 6.5/10. Churros: Perfect dough. 9/10. Torrija: It lacked flavor and sweetness in the torrija itself. The ice cream didn't taste like anything and adding ham seemed funny, although perhaps too salty and not very tasty. 7/10.
The atmosphere and service are good, but the food didn't transport me to...
Read moreVisited this restaurant with friend, I went based off google reviews…. We walked in around 5pm, we were told the only place available was the bar - no tables till 8.45, we were here for about 45 minutes, plenty of tables did not get filled during this time. I ordered Gambas pil pil (my favourite!), the prawns arrived in their shells but they were white / grey. This occurs when seafood is defrosted, frozen and defrosted again - god knows how many times. I’ve never seen a prawn like this and I worked in a prawn restaurant! I informed who I gathered was a manager, she told me ‘no they’re fine’. I let her know I wasn’t confident eating them and she snatched them away. It was quite comical. The bravas we had were half cooked, half raw, the tortilla is warmed to order - huge no no! And chef was using frozen Croquettas, awful. When we asked for the bill, it appeared with the prawns still on the bill. I enquired about it and was told I had to pay for them - I said fine, we then waited so long for the bill we considered leaving, something we have never done before. I’ve worked in hospitality for a long time and have never been given service like this. Please don’t spend your hard...
