Loetje Utrecht — Restaurant in Utrecht

I rarely take the time for a review, but this place is not worth the effort. Why? Havana is more about making money than it's about it's guests. It's a mentality issue of the owners I assume. Here's what happened:

Yesterday I went with some friends for a drink. Half way at 10AM the place is 'refurbished' to dance club. No problem. Though, we were requested to leave our table and to put our jackets/bags in the wardrobe. Five jackets x one euro. Two bags x 2 euro. No problem, although I got a little aggitated. Each time I go to the toilet 50 cents. A note on the door: 'It's not allowed to bring in your glass'.

Now after a few rounds, one of my friends asks for a glass of tap water. I go for the next round and order a glass of tap water at the bar. Pretty common to get it for free at most places. Not at Havana. Problem.

The girl behind the counter can't serve it: 'I will get in trouble, I'm not allowed to serve tap water', she says. I think of the money we just spend, and the absurdity not being able to serve your customers a normal glass of water. So I take one glass and fill it up myself over the bar. If she can't because her boss forbids her (why would that be?), I can.

We enter a discussion over this stupid rule. She says: 'I'll get you a glass of water' and walks from behind the bar to the entrance door. Is she going to get me a glass of tap water outside? Instead of tap water, I get the bouncer.

Again same discussion. I'm getting irritated by this commercial show. It's not about the guests, this place is filled with stupid rules to get more money. I've worked for over 10 years in several restaurants, hotels and beach clubs. This is really over the top. The bouncer feels this discussion is going nowhere. I'm not angry at him or the bar girl. They are doing their job. I just start to dislike the owner who sandwiches his personnel with this commercial approach. While we all spend lots of money here. Isn't it enough?

Eventually I compromise with the bouncer. He says 'You can get water at the toilet', so I ask an empty glass. No problem. I guess he gets it. Tap water should be available for free when your guests specifically ask for it. These people drink alcohol on a Saturday night. And not just one glass. A lot.

So I walk up to the toilet with my empty glass and guess what? There's the sign again: 'It's not allowed to bring in your glass'. This place is filled with stupid rules, just to get more money from you. It's not about the guests or their wellbeing. It's all...

Loetje Utrecht: A classic in a new coat

Loetje Utrecht is a well-known restaurant in the city. The restaurant has been a favorite for steak lovers for years. Recently, Loetje introduced a new 100% plant-based version of their famous steak: Loetje's Biefstuk Bali 0.0.

I was curious about this new version, so I decided to try it. The steak is made from New Meat, a plant-based product that has a texture and flavor similar to that of real steak.

The steak was tender and juicy, and in my opinion, it tasted like meat. I really enjoyed it!

A small downside was that the steak was not cooked in plant-based butter. This is a shame, as it would make the dish vegan.

Loetje Utrecht is a cozy restaurant with a beautiful interior. They are also dog-friendly, which is always a plus.

Na lang rijden/parkeerplek gevonden te hebben in het centrum van Utrecht !waar je in Tokio bekant stond🫣 (parkeerkosten)6,75 per uur! Hadden we Loetje gevonden! Bij binnenkomst stond een gastvrouw,stond erbij of ze van de bank thuis kwam! Met een loetje trui aan (chil modus )begeleiden ze ons naar de tafel, Na 15 min wachten vroegen we zelf of ik iets mocht drinken. kwamen ze het opnemen,wisten niet eens wat een cava was😎 Voorgerechten gekregen na een paar happen ging het terug!(haar in me eten) (Wel netjes een nieuwe gekregen)de dame van de bediening wilde nog met mij in discussie gaan over die haar.stond bij de tafel helemaal te controleren of dat echt een haar was,ik zei wat er gebeurd ik ga hem echt niet op eten meid😀😂nadat we klaar waren circa 20 min later zelf gevraagd of ze ons uit wilde ruimen(zelfs geroepen tussendoor voor drankjes) We Kregen ons hoofd gerecht al redelijk snel!moest ik vragen na 5 min of ik bestek mocht,omdat ze die bij het voorgerecht mee hadden genomen, Heerlijk gesmuld van de biefstuk!! 😋Yammiee 🙏🏻😇 Dat was de enigste hoogtepunt van onze avond! Erg ongedreven personeel! De foodrunner (krullenbol)jongen van denk 15/16 was nog vriendelijker dan de gastvrouw/andere personeelsleden Loetje biefstuk is zeker aan te raden!maar daar was ook alles mee gezegd helaas😎 Me dikke complimenten aan de foodrunner! Jammer dat hij te jong was om op te nemen,want dat zou juist een goeie aanwinst zijn geweest! De dame kwam vragen of ze nog iets voor ons kon betekenen,we vroegen de bon,ze legde hem neer en riepte het bedrag me man pakte het geld en zei is goed zo, Normaal gesproken geven wij 5 euro tip pp! We lieten 60 cent zitten van het totaal bedrag, Meisje pakte het geld en liep weg,ze begroete ons niet eens toen we betaald hadden. pakte het geld en liep weg….De gastvrouw die bij de ingang stond bij het verwelkomen stond er opdat moment niet(helaas) was dit voor een domper! Deze locatie zou ik zelf nooit aanraden! Maar het zit altijd stampers vol,massa is kassa maar niet vanuit de klantvriendelijkheid of service, Helaas! 😎 Loetje Delft/Rotterdam centrum Amstelveen/Rotterdam aan de haven zijn stukker beter!
