Ruby Rose in Utrecht is like that quirky, artsy friend you always want to hang out with - full of personality, surprises, and fabulous food! It's not just a restaurant; it's an experience, and a darn good one at that.
The ambiance at Ruby Rose is a heady mix of retro chic and contemporary cool. You've got mismatched chairs, vintage wallpaper, and neon signs that would make your grandma blush. But somehow, it all works together to create a fun, funky, and downright unforgettable atmosphere. It's like stepping into a time machine, only with tastier food.
Now, the menu at Ruby Rose is a journey through international flavours with a creative twist. This place refuses to be boxed in, they even have vegetarian and vegan options that are so good, you might just forget about meat for a meal or two.
The cocktail game at Ruby Rose is strong, too. They've got concoctions that could challenge your grandma's secret recipe. And the service? Well, it's a mix of friendly, attentive, and just a tad bit eccentric - in the best possible way. The staff knows their stuff and aren't afraid to show a little personality while they're at it.
Whether you're a Utrecht local or a visitor on the hunt for an unforgettable dining experience, Ruby Rose is the place to be. It's a restaurant that laughs in the face of ordinary and serves up a feast of flavours in a setting that's anything but typical. So, if you're in the mood for good food, great vibes, and a side of eccentricity, Ruby Rose...
Read moreI would not recommend this restaurant for a group dinner. All the conditions for the cancellations regulations are not mentioned on the website but then you receive it via email, with a specific sharing-dishes menu that is not clear and you cannot change. This is not transparent. We were a group of 9 and our table was next to the noisy kitchen, with uncomfortable seats, and passing by personnel bumping into you often on their way to the bar. The dishes are not easily shareable (although that was the whole concept they force with the group dinner). In the beginning we received much attention for drinks orders, but that service faded away very quickly when the restaurant got busier. If you want to split the bill there with the group, the restaurant won't help. On the contrary, some staff members were rude with us while we were trying to help them by calculating every one's costs. Not to mention that they charged us for two bottles of water without us ordering them (and while they said at the beginning that the water was for free given it was tab water). They even started cleaning the table while we were still seated. The food quality is good and some dishes were really delicious but all the above ruined the experience. Not recommended for...
Read moreVisited for the first time last week. Overall, the food was good, but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired.
When we arrived and mentioned we had a reservation, the hostess didn’t ask about our seating preference (inside or outside) and simply seated us at the bar. It felt a bit odd since there were clearly available tables both inside and outside, and it's usually standard to ask the customer where they'd prefer to sit.
We then asked if we could sit outside because the bar wasn’t very comfortable. She said yes and pointed toward the terrace, but didn’t bother walking us to a table or indicating where exactly we could sit, which felt a bit unprofessional.
Once seated outside, we waited around 10–15 minutes for someone to take our order. The staff seemed overwhelmed and rushed, and it felt like they completely forgot about the tables outside. We weren’t the only ones, guests at nearby tables were also waiting a long time before anyone came over.
I understand that in a location like that it can get busy, but this level of service is disappointing, especially when you're trying to enjoy a meal out.
Sadly, it was our first time and likely the last. Hope they work on improving their service, because the food...
