We have been regulars of Uncle Jim’s for some time, a slightly busy but overall warm and authentic place, we thought. Until our last visit. We ordered a gluten free dish, for a coeliac. It was served with a crumbly burger bun on the plate right above. We pointed this out and explained the issue (gluten free meal is no longer gluten free). The meal was returned to the kitchen and we had an unpleasant conversation with another waitress, who attempted to cover it up under their policy that they cannot guarantee no traces of gluten. This is normal in a non-gluten free kitchen, but does not excuse the way it was served. This attitude shows a lack of care toward our dietary requirements, as separating the gluten-free dish from the others when serving was well within their control. They offered us a new dish, but when it was served it was the same dish, the sauce now congealing. The inappropriate serving was a mistake, not bringing a new dish, and lying about it, is unacceptable. We spoke to the chef, who did not deny it was the same dish, and eventually agreed that we needn’t pay for it, after some resistance. The lack of respect and interest in customers’ welfare was jarring. We will not...
Read moreNever had a uncle who could cook well, was not boring and could make you delicious home made brownies? Rest assured, Uncle Jim provides it all. Your new favorite uncle in town, the one you DO want to visit besides the mandatory Christmas family gatherings. From a delicious and fun steak tartare to a very fancy French poussin, they have it all. Serving took a little long, our 3 meal course took almost 2 hours, but it was worth the wait. Nice atmosphere and decent staff, the only down point is that we were really looking forward to the brownie dessert because they told us they were freshly baked from that day, but they definitely were not. We ordered some tea and got a little piece of brownie with it, THAT piece was definitely fresh. So tasty. However, the taste of our dessert was good enough so it didn’t really bother us. Would we recommend it? Yes! Next time we will try out lunch and let you know if it’s worth the money. Tip: socialdeals offers coupons for Uncle Jim, a 3 course meal for €17 pp!
