't Groene Pandje Zaandam — Restaurant in Zaanstad

Visited "'t groene pandje" for the first time in my life for a(n hour long) meeting with a potential client/prospect.

I lived in Zaandam all of my life and had never visited the cafetaria before.

Me and my client got treated extremely rudely. We where asked if we wanted something to eat or drink about 3 times while we already ordered our drinks and had asked if we could have a few moments to decide.

This was about 10 minutes into our visit.

After the third interruption we asked for a literal 5 minutes. The waitress walked away shaking her head as if we where at fault. The drinks we ordered earlier had not arrived yet.

The prospect had visited this establishment several times before (she went there almost on a weekly basis with her grand daughter) mentioned she had never been treated like this before.

And had it not been for the fact that several staff members showed this behavior, she would have dismissed it as one person simply having a bad day.

In summary: I personally did not feel welcome nor do I feel the need to visit this establishment ever again. A big disappointment for me and I sincerely hope the change their outwards attitude towards their clientele, seeing that Zaandam is becoming an attractive location for...

We read all the great reviews and were happy to have lunch on the boat. I ordered the Chickylilly and when I got it, it was very tasty (sauce/dressing) but I couldn't find any chicken. I opened the whole sandwich and there were a few tiny crumbs and no pulled chicken. When we asked the waiter where the chicken was, she pointed to the crumbs and said that's the chicken.

I ate the sandwich thinking that was normal and paid our bill, but as we were leaving the next person got the same sandwich and it was filled with lots of chicken (overfilled)! My wife and I were pretty upset and don't know why we didn't get any chicken (not many Americans eating here at the time so we thought we were targeted for being American).

We liked the meal but felt very upset when we saw other sandwiches compared to ours. My wife really liked her club sandwich, it was very good and tasty. We don't usually complain but we were furious at how my meal was...

Location is great, furniture on the inside is a little bit aged and the service is horrible. I've been to many, many restaurants all over the world and I haven't encountered such bad service elsewhere. The waitress was arrogant and didn't seem to have any respect for the customers. Besides that, it was very clear that she hasn't got any training in serving at a restaurant (which, in my opinion, is a shame). Personally I will never come here again although the food was mediocre in comparison to the prices. They just go to the supermarket to buy sandwiches and toppings and overcharge you heavily for this.
