Osteria Mediterranea — Restaurant in Zaanstad

It’s a small, cozy, family Italian restaurant! We ordered caprese salad (tomato was tasteless and it’s better to use cherry or small tomatoes here in NL I guess. But greens and cheese were nice), gnocchi (did not like them at all unfortunately), rabbit in tomato sauce with potatoes (the meat was nice and tender but potatoes- super salty and dry. I mist some freshness like greens or vegetables). For desserts had a tiramisu and this was super delicious and a portion was really big! I will come again...

Osteria Mediterranea is hands down my favorite restaurant in the entire Netherlands. This charming boutique spot in Zaandam offers a true Italian fine dining experience. Op de openingsdag, gingen wij in het nieuwe Italiaanse restaurantje Osteria Mediterranea eten. Een leuk, gastvrij familierestaurant; vader is chef en dochter doet de bediening en maakte de tiramisu. Moeder werkt ook nog even mee, tot het team compleet is. De kaart is niet te uitgebreid en zal af en toe wisselen. Ik dronk een lekkere witte huiswijn en we aten heerlijke gerechten, met zorg bereid en met verse ingrediënten . Echt Italiaanse familierecepten, waar de chef zijn eigen creatieve draai aan geeft. De toppers van de avond waren voor ons de gnocchi di patate al radicchio e zafferano (aardappelgnocchi met radiccio en saffraan) fluweelzachte kussentjes, heel smakelijk en een precies goede portie. Mijn man at tagliolini fatti in casa allo scoglio (huisgemaakte pasta met vongole, mosselen, octopus en inktvis) Aangezien mijn man dit heerlijk vindt, bestelt hij dit vaker, in diverse restaurants. Aan dit gerecht klopte alles, de garing van het verschillende zeefruit, de huisgemaakte pasta, de versheid..puur genieten en beste bereiding tot nu toe !
