More than could be expected, in all possible ways. Went there to celebrate an anniversary spontaneosly. Despite the pandemic, they offer takeaway and we were offered to calmly sit down and review the menu and something to drink on the house.
They offered classic Greek meat dishes such as souvlaki and moussaka and calamares. There were mainly meat dishes on the menu, which significantly limits the choice which is the main thing I think could be improved, even if meat is a specialty. The starter with honey marinated feta cheese was very tasty, as well as the salad and amazing sauce that came with the fries.
Moreover, the server was overall so friendly and welcoming. We felt as valued guests and almost forgot that we ordered takeaway in an empty restaurant which was surreal, but nice. Our food was prepared in the time promised, so we took a walk whilst waiting.

Right from the start, we were greeted with complimentary welcoming drinks—a delightful surprise that instantly made us feel valued. The food was a highlight, with the meats, especially the tender souvlaki and flavorful gyros, bursting with authentic Mediterranean flair. Every dish we tried was fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully prepared, reflecting the pure ingredients the restaurant prides itself on. The cozy, lively atmosphere, perfect for both intimate dinners and group gatherings, added to the charm. The staff were warm and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Irodion is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious Greek cuisine in a...
Read moreGood Greek restaurants in the Netherlands are hard to find. They can be pricey and very hit or miss. Not the case here. Would recommend anything from the grill, as it has the flavour you know and love from Greece. Quality meat, well prepared. Some glasses of wine, a main and either a starter or dessert will set you back about 50 euros, which is commendable. The service is quick and for a large, busy restaurant there is still dedicated attention to you as a guest. The decor is a little tacky, and it can be a little loud when at full capacity but hey ho, you can't have everything and it is still Zaandam and not Thessaloniki...
