Bakers Delight Remuera — Restaurant in Ōrākei

I went into Bakers Delight Remuera this morning at 10:30 AM. It was bright, sunny, and the vibes were spectacular. I stepped into the bakery and saw a middle-aged woman with brown hair working. I wasn’t greeted or smiled at, and the customer service was lacking and vibes were off. Not even a simple, “Hi there, how’s your day going!”? The lady was on her phone behind the counter. I took photos of the cabinet food, to show my friend what was available, as I was planning to buy her something. The worker yelled, “No photos,” with an angry face and confrontational tone 😤🤬

This place is generally great and well stocked, however our last visit early August as a family was quite a strange experience.

There was one other customer in front of us being served when we arrived, with two others walking in and waiting behind us - so it was rather busy. There were two staff working at the time - one older attendant that appeared to be in charge, and one younger attendant we assume was in training based on the following experience. The main older attendant was busy with the first customer and whilst the second younger attendant was free and willing to help us, the main attendant kept telling her off infront of everyone despite her not doing anything wrong, and wouldn't let her help us either - she kept saying she was going to get to us herself momentarily.

We waited over 5 mins for our turn to come up and we had 3 young children who were clearly bored and inpatient at this time. It also didn't help that the main attendant started a conversation with the customers behind us instead of serving us straight away as if we weren't there, so not really happy about this one.

Clearly not the best customer service experience - especially considering it was busy and one staff member wasn't allowed to do anything useful - but we will be back, this may have just been a one-off so I look forward to a better...

Delightful Experience at Bakers Delight Remuera! I simply can't speak highly enough of Bakers Delight in Remuera! It's become my go-to spot for freshly baked goods, and for good reason.

Their breads are always incredibly fresh and delicious, and their croissants are perfectly flaky and buttery – a true morning treat. But if I had to pick my absolute favorites, it would hands-down be the blueberry Danish custard and the pistachio cone. Both are utterly divine and a must-try for anyone visiting!

What truly makes this bakery stand out, beyond the fantastic food, is the wonderful staff. A special shout-out to Harjeet, who is always so warm, kind, and incredibly helpful. She goes above and beyond, always taking the time to explain everything clearly and make sure you leave with a smile. Her excellent customer service truly enhances the whole experience.
