We came on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Space: the cafe was almost empty, so we were happy to share a meal in quiet space. The design of the cafe is nice, only thing we didn't liked was that the dining room had direct access to the kitchen. Food: the taste of the food was very good, we had simple things, eggs on toast, but correctly poached eggs and decent hollandaise was all we needed, thank you for that. Service: the waiter took the order and we said for 1 dish we want scrambled eggs or omelette, she asked the chef if it's possible and we decided to go for the scrambled eggs, however, at the serving time the eggs came as poached, when we specially said we don t like poached eggs. It was a simple order, 2 dishes, eggs 2 ways, still not able to deliver correctly. She took the wrong dish back to the kitchen and came back with the correct one, anyways, by the time they re-do the eggs the bread and bacon became cold and was not reheated or replaced. We ordered just one coffee, which didn t came to the table until we didn t asked for, but the waiter served 2 other tables with coffees for orders which came after our order. We hoped maybe they will bring the coffee with the food, didn't happen and then when we requested, she appeared to have totally forgotten about it. It's not a big deal and we don't want to make a fuss, but still it's not nice to go to a place to spend 50-60 dollars and wanting 2 simple eggs on toast and 1 coffee and the staff to not be able to take and deliver correctly. Other thing we didn't like was that they allowed people with dogs inside, not wveryone is a dog person or can have allergies. Another thing we didn't liked was that one staff had their break and meal in the dining room, I think staff and customers shall stay separately, sure the staff can enjoy their meals...
Read moreBeno Café and its staff endeavor to stay afloat among the tsunami of cafés between Remuera and Orakei. Despite the friendly staff and delicious coffee, the café is sinking.
Beno Café is a mess; the separated seating spaces are confusing; there is no consistent theme or motif the café is endorsing; parts of large orders arrive cold whilst other elements are hot; wrong items arrive late, and are addressed far too late into the dining experience; sometimes, entire items from orders are missing.
The food items that arrive correctly are good, but not great or unique in any way, which does not match their price points. As mentioned above, the coffee is fantastic, but drink variety is lacking.
We appreciate Beno's efforts, but its strains...
Read moreWe ordered Brichoe French toast and Citrus cured salmon on toast. The presentation is quite appealing, with rich colors that stimulate the appetite. In reality, they taste good too. The Citrus cured salmon is placed on a slice of bread, mixed with some vegetables. The slightly salty salmon combined with the mild taste of the bread enriches the otherwise plain texture of the bread. There is also a hint of mustard flavor in the salmon, making the overall taste unique and enjoyable.
For the French toast ordered by family members, it's soft and sweet. The bananas and pears on top of the bread are not overly sweet, which is nice. Additionally, family members who enjoy coffee quite like the coffee at this place. It's good and worth...
