. (08/2018) This beautiful reserve is located over Orakei road and can be easily spotted on the roadside from a moving vehicle in normal traffic. Easily accessible from different directions. This reserve and adjoining basin are pretty big in size. Well maintained. Clean and obstacle free walkways. Detailed description and maps are provided on the boards near entrances. There are multiple walkways, children play areas and couple of exercise areas. Beautiful views of basin are presented around the walkways. Seating and benches are provided at regular distances for taking rest and enjoying the views. Good place for quick visits or a leisure walk on a clear day. Dedicated play areas for kids make it ideal for children. This reserve is dog friendly. A good place to do a get-together or organise a picnic on a clear day. Multiple spacious parking areas are provided at different entrances. Wheelchair parking is available and there are wheelchair...

This well developed walkway features trails, paved pathways, raised wooden walkways and bridges, and a few stairways. It is great for walking and running, and is popular with locals for dog walking and exercise. It takes a total of about 40 to 45 minutes to walk completely around the basin, and there are plenty of benches to sit and relax on along the way. There are also several boat ramps with parking, and one free parking area. The Basin walkway can be accessed from many points, and is never closed. There is a shopping center on the northwest side, on Orekai Road, with an organic grocery store, restaurants, and cafes, including a few that serve drinks or beers. A great place to spend a few hours for a...

It will be good to go Orakei Basin every week or every other week. What an excellent walkway for causal walk. ( average spending around 45 mins ) A couple of entry places can start your trail, easy to park your car or even take the AT train there. ( close to a train station ). Good to seeing ppl enjoy the park here, walking, run, water sport, picnic, walk with dog.... or even take photos, so many activities you can do here. Friendly reminder: bring water, hat with you, jacket ( windy sometime ) Surprising you can see the Auckland cityline from some spot here. ( if you have a visitor coming, you can bring him/ her here to take some touristy...
