The Coffee Club Lunn Avenue, Stonefields — Restaurant in Ōrākei

We’ve been coming here for ages and they’ve always been great, but recently the management changed and standards have gone way down. We’ve been back a few times since then to give them a chance because it’s understandable that there would be some teething problems with new staff, but there has been no improvement. This most recent visit (and our last, we will not be going back) was ridiculous, we just ordered 4 hot drinks and a couple of muffins to eat in, plus a takeaway meal. In fairness to the kitchen staff, the takeaway meal came out very quickly, the problem was with the rest of the order. It took probably 10 minutes for 2 of the drinks to get to us, another 5 minutes after that for the last 2 drinks, at which point we reminded them about the muffins. Another few minutes passed and still no muffins, so we went up to remind them again, another few minutes passed and they finally had our muffins sitting on the counter but no-one brought them over. We finally just went up and grabbed them ourselves, but it’s absolutely absurd to wait 20 minutes for something that was already prepared and just had to be heated up and put on a plate. The food is great I just cannot fault it. The pricing is reasonable and the serving staff were great. On the 12th Oct went for brunch which cost $125.90. I happened to look at my Visa useage that night and found I was double charged. Went down the following day and they couldn't care less. The woman said, 'not us see yr bank'. To get some perspective this is the second time I have been double charged from this company (different restaurants). I use my credit card at least 50x a month I have never had a double charge, EVER, except from this company, twice. What are the chances? My bank have said this occurs from their machine a(and not the bank end) all they do is receive the bills. My advice is check yr visa visa account BEFORE you leave and have them up right there and then if you are double billed. Can't fault the food but I will not go back...

Popped in for brunch after a Saturday morning walk. Met by the very pleasant Novi who organised our seats for us. Bacon eggs benny for me, potato rosti w smashed avo & poached egg for her. Both meals were 👌Eggs done just how I like them, generous amount of bacon, very fresh spinach, good portion size very nice hollandaise sauce. I have a big appetite and was very full after eating my meal. Our coffees were juuust luke warm when we got em. We mentioned this to the waitress who apologised without hesitation said she would have 2 more brought out ASAP. Novi passed by and checked on us.
