Subway Mt Wellington — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

I went to this restaurant recently and they wouldn’t accept a gift card I was given in kindness for myself and my special needs daughter. Even though the gift card said that it could be used in ANY Subway. The owner was belligerent and verbally abused my child’s mother when she called them saying they should have honoured the card referring to my rights as a consumer. I had paid out of my own pocket (the whole point was not having to) for a meal even though the staff member serving sighted the card and I had told them I was working to the card budget as I couldn’t pay more than the value. Knowing this they prepared the food regardless and then said they couldn’t accept the card at the checkout. I naturally (but reluctantly) paid for the prepared food feeling obliged as I felt it was the right thing to do. My child's mother complained and the owner berated her, yelled over her and said I was to blame for paying for the food from my own pocket?! He said I should have walked away and not paid for it?! The owner had zero empathy, blamed the customers for their own issues. (Their problem - not ours). He should have taken responsibility for his inability to honour the cards. I wouldn’t recommend this Subway at all. Glen Innes were very helpful and gave us the answers we needed. Sadly the Lunn Ave restaurant tarnished what should have been a great night for a Dad treating his child to Friday takeaways. Worst Subway experience. The servers were whispering into each others' ear and laughing as they made our food. It's not that I'm afraid they were talking about me, I just find the act of whispering rude. The woman was literally arms deep in the sandwich she was making - everytime she reached across for ingredients her arms were brushing into the sandwich. It took about 10 years to make meatball sub, and when I went to eat it, it was soggier than my socks after being caught in a hurricane. Which is also what the sandwich looked like it had been destroyed by. I picked up one half of the foot long and it broke into two and the meatballs rolled off the table. Asked for a 6inch sub of day and the female staff behind the counter looked at their sub of day menu. It was clearly a pizza melt sub for Friday. They made the sandwich then when it was time to pay for it she said "sorry sub of day is pork" .. didn't explain what she was talking about properly and charged me full price for the 6inch pizza melt instead of the sub of day price.

Either dishonest or misleading advertising instore or both and I had to pay for their "mistake"/lie. How ridiculous. Not coming back and I wouldn't recommend this branch to anybody because they have prob misled lots of...
