印象 Impression Restaurant Auckland — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

We had a deeply upsetting experience at Impression restaurant. We booked a table for 15 people to celebrate a 5-year-old’s birthday—a special family occasion that our 70-year-old grandmother was especially excited about. When we made the booking, we were told the group would be split across two tables, which we accepted. However, two guests couldn’t attend due to illness, so we kindly asked to sit together at one table instead.

To our surprise, the staff refused, even though the tables could clearly be adjusted from round to oval to accommodate us. When we asked again, a male staff member with long gold-colored hair responded rudely and unprofessionally: “This is our restaurant. This is my rule.” We were shocked and saddened by this response. It turned what should have been a joyful evening into a very disappointing one. Our birthday boy and grandmother were visibly upset and lost interest in the celebration.

To make matters worse, the toilet facilities were appalling—unclean, with a broken tap that made it nearly impossible to wash hands properly. It felt like hygiene had been neglected from day one.

another great eatery that is wallet friendly. we were impressed on our first try so we came back for the second time. i do agree that those tapas menu with "prawns" are not actually prawns, they are quite small, more like shrimps. our second visit unfortunately was not as good as the first one. we ordered a sweet n sour fish, and the fish smells quite a bit (i think it was hoki fillet). we also ordered oyster mushroom which we found there is more batter on it than the mushroom itself. we also disappointed that when we asked for more chilli oil (we were given a very small amount in the beginning), we were told quickly that they have no more (this is at 1.30pm lunch time) and given a cheap supermarket chilli oil instead. it's hard to believe a big restaurant like this had run out chilli oil already by 1.30pm - how about for the rest of the day ? the waitress with glasses could do with a bit more smile, she doesn't seem like she wants to be there at all. all the other staffs, 2 guys and another girl, was friendly and smiley. would i go again ? i would, but if the experience is worse, then that would be...

I visited Impresssion Restaurant last Sunday with a group of church friends and we loved the experience and will definitely come again on Sundays as a place to catch up and socialise over delicious food. Many new people come to our Sunday services so this is a wonderful way to get to know them better through food and friendship over lunch. The staff here are very polite and courteous. The awesome atmosphere created with traditional reds and blacks tastefully punctuated with elegant ceiling sprays of optical fibre lighting in contrasting purples and olive greens is aesthetically outstanding. Loved the food so much that I came again tonight with close family to try the signature Peking duck. We were not disappointed!!!’ The crispy skin was roasted to perfection and the duck leg drumstick on the side was a mouthwatering visual addition when the dish was presented.
