Pistackio — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

The absolute best gelato place in New Zealand, if not the World. Let me tell you, I used to live around the corner of this shop which was already a dangerous temptation for a sweet treat…

The owner, Juan, even made a special batch of green apple gelato for my birthday as a request from my flatmates and damn was it good!

I sadly moved out in November 23’ and have since spent the last 10 months traveling the World (including Italy), trying to find gelato that could compare, but to no avail!

I arrived back in NZ yesterday and while staying in Devonport, I made it my mission to come all the way back to Mt Eden to enjoy more of Juan’s delicious gelato and great jokes and I urge everyone else to do the same!

Without doubt my favourite spot for a tasty gelato and I would urge everyone who can visit Pistackio to come and...

I’m not certain what the fuss is all about. We’ve definitely had better. We arrived at 9:22 PM on a Friday and the inside tables and chairs were all stacked up and shoved to one side so no indoor seating for us. They close at 10PM so why was the shop set up like that with more than half an hour to go ‘til closing? Outdoor bench was occupied so no outdoor seating as well. There was a bit of a wait which was totally fine and the staff were friendly enough. We had chocolate mousse, pistachio, and pavlova with cherry. Chocolate mousse was the best of the lot; while the others made us say, “Is this gelato or ice cream?”. The portions were small compared to other gelato shops - so not really value for money. I don’t think we’ll be going back...

Delicioso!!!! Taste the passion! Do not leave Mt Eden without first imbibing in one of Pistackios delectable artisan masterpieces. Whether you are strolling back from dinner, on your morning jog, or in your car at the lights! anytime is a good time for gourmet food this good. (yes even after your eggs bene) Put your hazards on and dash in for a double of Banana Dolce Leche, or Coconut Butterscotch - you will thank me, and you will thank yourself!! We are so fortunate and thankful for such artists and entrepreneurs for their passion, dedication and devotion, to take on the risk, hardwork and toil to establish a business that adds such colour and flavour and richness to the tapestry of our village, our city and indeed our lives....
