Well I never 😱 I had an appt at the Auckland Heart Group, just a few minutes by car, I had travelled from Papakura, not far, but nearly fell over when I had to pay $12 just to get to the cafe for a cuppa and something to eat. I’ve been to the gardens a couple of years back, so for me I had no need to visit them, plus as I’ve said was heading to an appt. The young girl was very polite about it, I think you need to change your rules and maybe section off that part so people like myself can sit a relax and have a cuppa, not everyone is going to wander off and visit the gardens. I have no problem paying to visit the gardens, but I’m certainly not paying $12 just to get into the cafe, and not everyone wants to go to NM where it’s busy and noisy, anyways maybe you need to rethink your rules, and as the woman who saw me at AHG said maybe have a ticket system, where by someone like myself can just go to the cafe. Read moreWe took a family member in a wheelchair to these Gardens recently but found all over the place signs saying paths not suitable for wheelchairs.
As a result there were very few areas to actually go to inside
We even called the Gardens reception before going, to check if all paths were wheelchair friendly? and they assured us they were !!
You take people in wheelchairs to such Gardens so they can enjoy the environment and experience, get out in the fresh air, be taken on a nice walk, - not be "stopped" from enjoying !!!
What disgraceful treatment from Eden Garden for people in wheelchairs
And to add to the disgrace of these Gardens they then charge disabled people for entry, and then have staff give mis-leading and incorrect information to the public about wheelchair access
Time to up the game big...
Read moreThe gift shop had a lot of flora and fauna themed items such as mugs, lotions, scarves, and tea towels items. They also have a very small collection of garden items such as bird feeders, fertilizer, and hand tools. The cafe had a decent selection of delectable items such as main dishes and pastries. (The kitchen closes at 2:00 P.M. and the cafe closes at 3:30 P.M.) The garden was very nice and peaceful despite being in a populated area! There are a lot of uneven surfaces and some steep inclines, so people needing walking assistance should take caution. Otherwise, there are plenty of benches to rest at and take in the garden views with the sounds of the birds. There aren't very many tourists that visit here, so I reccomend this place for a peaceful getaway from the city or just...
