I have been a big fan of this place since some friends took us here last year.
The phrase is "quick and dirty" - and has nothing to do with the hygiene of this place. If you want hot, delicious Chinese food that is still properly priced and comes out steaming hot, this place is the place to go. Their sweet and sour pork is a staple done right (sweet, sour, and crunchy) and their salt and pepper chicken chop is freshly fried on the spot. If you're getting bowls of rice for a party larger than 2, they generously give you a big bowl of rice with a rice scoop so you can serve yourselves ala Chinese home style.
They have large jugs of Ice cold water, free to take, or there is a fridge of different sodas and drinks to help yourself to and pay for when you finish your meal.
It can be a bit cramped at times (may not be necessarily wheelchair friendly) but you can always squeeze in and make a bit more room.
The menu is all over the place, literally. There are menus on tables as well as pictures on the wall so if you don't necessarily feel comfortable ordering, you can always point to whatever captures your fancy.
They open til 12am at night so if you're ever getting a hankering for takeaways, you know where to go. They're situated on the busy on-street parking road opposite the Mt Albert Train station so if you're driving, parking might be a bit tough. There are enough buses that go round or you could take your chances with the carpark next to the row of shops by the...
Read moreWoman FOH is an absolute rude bully, atrocious behaviour. No wonder the place next door is thriving while they are not. Avoid this place and go to the place next door (original Mt Albert BBQ house)where they know how to treat people.
Edited to respond to your reply: Whether Uber Driver or Prime Minister, we don't practice prejudice here. This is not Asia. See how other restaurants conduct business and learn from them instead of making your own foolish policies. Understand the importance of politeness and courtesy in hospitality towards everyone regardless of their nationality or race. Also realise your food is not that precious. Don't childishly call a genuine review malicious just because you don't like or agree with it, instead take it onboard and improve from it which would be an approach very different to your...

Now, the thing about non-soy sauce fried rice is that they do taste bland sometimes. This one almost reached that point but the combination of meats helped it out.
As far as I can tell, you got slices of BBQ pork, beef, and chicken inside the fried rice. Both the beef and chicken are okay, but the BBQ pork was the tastiest.
For 17 NZD, the combination fried rice was good enough, since the portion can keep me full for...
