Muffin Break — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

This Muffin Break used to be good a couple of years ago. I am not sure if it’s COVID or what is the issue but the food quality of this place has gone down drastically. I ordered a Chicken Filo and a hot chocolate from this place. Just could take 2-3 bites of the Filo, ate basically 2-3 bites of the outer layer by then. After that I had cut the Filo open and the filling didn’t smell good.. and some of the chicken filling looked raw and pink and some had some black residue on it. I immediately left the food as it was. Drank hot chocolate which was wasn’t good either but was ok-ok. After finishing the drink, I showed the lady the chicken with the black residue on it. She just said ‘no it’s not bad, it’s just some spice’ and said nothing else and took the tray as I was putting it away on the counter. I could see some black sesame seeds on top of the Filo but inside there were none. The smell wasn’t good and whatever it was I was already put off by it. All in all, not a good experience. The chef on the day berated my mother and my sister after asking simply to re cook a pastry that was under baked. It was then sent back out and was yet again still raw. Sent back once more and then the "chef"/"manager" came out to the table and tried to explain the pastry is raw due to it being a "new" kind of pastry. Then came to the table and said "what do you want a refund or something" and almost threw the change at them after asking for the food to be cooked properly, three times. This is an absolute joke not only from a chefs point of view but as a customer this is unacceptable. To come to the table and berate people after they have asked for simply cooking the item they have paid money for that wasn't up to standard. The tone and way he has gone about dealing with this issue is just disgusting, will not ever be spending money here or practically any muffin break in the future. Went to Muffin Break St Lukes at around 2pm on August 29th for a lunch kinda thing with my mum. Food was pretty below average today and rather disgusting. I ordered a GF spinich and feta muffin and a vanilla latte which was luke warm and my muffin had a black hair in it which i noticed after biting into it. I swear i got some of the hair strand in my mouth which was rather yuck. My mum had a chai latte, a ham club sandwich and a louise slice which she didn’t even ask for. She wanted an apricot almond slice but the lady that services us had poor English skills and seemed to misunderstand what we wanted. We also usually have the food heated up in the microwave but today it was served stone cold. We don’t normally ask either because its usually microwaved anyways. This is the first time we’ve had this problem at Muffin Break so a bit disappointing. Don’t plan to come...
