Had lunch today and got the chicken satay, roti curry, kway chap and bubur chacha. Satay was very good, chicken was tender and satay sauce was perfect. Roti was crispy, curry was not bad but I think can improve in taste as it doesnt feel aromatic enough. Just ok for me for kway chap, a lot of innert taste so for people who enjoys that will probably like it. Bubur chacha is perfect with so much ube aroma in the soup. This place definitely improved since last time we went.
Second visit for lunch. Wanted to try the oyster omelette for a while now. We had that and also char kuey teow. The char kuey teow was pretty good, lots of different ingredients and wok hay. I like the crunchy pork skin they add in it. The oyster omelette was just ok, it lacked flavour actually and relied heavily on the dipping sauce but that was just ok as well. The portion size also very small. Spent $62 for 2 people (me and my wife) but we were both only 55% full.
First time trying here at this Malaysian style restaurant. I've had a lot of Malaysian food in the past so have a good idea on what the dishes should taste like. First of all, there was some dietary requirement of no sambal and no shrimp in our order so I am going to leave out review on certain dishes, so will only be reviewing the dishes that aren't that. The braised pork and the cereal fish was cooked fabulously. The pork was full of flavour, but the portion was just little bit too small for my liking. The cereal fish was fried nicely and the cereal flavour was perfectly seasoned, salty and a little sweet. The hainanese chicken was just ok for me as I feel it is slightly overcooked, so the meat was not as tender as it should be. The tofu dish was slightly lack of flavour to me. The yam basket was also very tasty, the pork meat was tender and the fried vermicelli is crispy and pairs well. The service is very good from the guy whom I assumed is the owner. He was very friendly and talk to many tables and refill the water. The other normal staffs service was slightly lacking, as they often overlooked us in the teapot department. Overall, quite enjoy my meal and will be back to try some dishes without the limitation and also a few...
Read moreMy mum saw the special Singaporean chilli adverstisement on Instagram and immediately wanted to book a reservation to try out this place.. safe to say they did not disappoint at all! This has got to be, by far, one of the best restaurants we've gone out in a very long time. The food came out much faster than we expected, we ordered many dishes as to really explore this restaurant and to spare you excessive details: the Singaporean Chilli crab was my mum and my sister's favourite, the crab was paired with this smooth sauce that was unique, sweet but spicy and had a burst of flavour; one of the best new sauces I've tried in ages! The Samba Chicken was super amazing, being soft, juicy, a flavourful and aromatic. The Young Tofu we ordered (forgot the name sadly) was extremely soft on the inside and nice texture on the skin, with eggs cooked with it on the bottom of the dish. My sister's braised pork was the best pork I've had ever. But the thing that stood out to me was Yvonne's service. To keep a long story short, she is without a doubt the best engaging waitress we've had, ever... period. She was helpful, kind, informative with our questions, and interacted with us amazingly and I hope she continues to spread that same love and joy wheverever she goes. Big ups to the kitchen as well for producing such wonderful dishes in an incredibly short amount of time. Besides the food and service, the atmosphere seemed cozy but not luxurious, the interior definitely has room for improvement, especially in regards to matching to the quality of the food and lastly the parking options was kind of confusing. They even gave us a $20 discount voucher when we left which was an amazing finish after the amazing deserts. This restaurant is a 10/10 and we would DEFINITELY dine...
Read moreHad a great experience last night, hosting a dinner for 13 people here (originally 15), having secured the largest table a week in advance and picked my a variety from the menu. As a Malaysian diner, I hope our selection can be used as a great reference menu for non-Malaysians looking for guaranteed authenticity.
Overall, the food was great, with some standout dishes.
Particularly enjoyed the otak-orak (Malaysian specialty), Oyster Omelette (well seasoned), Signature Beef Rendang (a must-try), Kam Heong Fish Fillet (a must-try), Chicken and cashew nuts yam ring basket (my all time fav dish in Malaysia) and Salt & Pepper Soft Shell Crab.
It was great to see some authentic Malaysian representation on the menu. I intentionally kept the seafood shell choices light since I was unsure about allergies, but this provided more than enough variety for the table.
The only downsides were that a few dishes were salty (like the Fish Head Soup), the okra in the Four Heavenly King wasn't as fresh as it could be.
The main challenge was the pace of the meal. It took about an hour for all 17 of our dishes to arrive, which was slightly slow. While we were considerate that it was a busy Friday night, this did make the dining experience feel slightly dragged out.
Despite these minor issues, it was a very enjoyable meal and we appreciated having our table ready. For us, this was a one-off experience that was...
