Tuk Tuk Bangkok Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community

Me and my boyfriend went to go have some “Thai food” BIG MISTAKE! We then came in to the restaurant, we were greeted by a man who had a tone towards us, I did not like that at all. We then got seated at a table near the door, we were still looking at the menu when he comes over and says in a very rude tone “What do you want”, my boyfriend couldn’t quite understand what he was saying and he kept looking at the menu. The elder man then continues to say in an angry tone “what do you want?” I explained to my boyfriend that there wasn’t a certain dish on the menu and the man continues asking what we wanted when we were clearly still looking, over all I give it a 2/10 experience, I think that he should have a more polite tone towards people. And give his customers more time to look at the menu, we felt rushed and upset that we were treated like this, and the food did not taste like Thai food at all, There was so much peanut sauce and hardly any meat and it was very small my boyfriend spent around 20 dollars for basically...

Not recommended. I made the mistake of hopping in just because I saw the words “Thai restaurant,” without checking the Google reviews “A BIG MISTAKE”. While placing our order, we were greeted with a bit of sarcasm from an older man, which was quite unexpected and unusual for me in NZ. Curious, I checked the Google reviews, but by then it was too late.

Grumpy and Angry Owner - We booked a table and he welcomed me by saying 'WHAT DO YOU WANT'? After showing us the table, he said 'SHE WILL TAKE FOREVER TO MAKE THE FOOD, SO DON'T EXPECT IT TO ARRIVE QUICKLY'. I said I haven't ordered antthing yet and this is not a way to talk to your customers, he looked at me in anger and went to his old dirty bar to serve the customers. We left immediately and shared the experience with some local people. They said that the whole community is sick of his behaviour and he is in process of selling his business as no one likes him. His wife cooks really well but he is the one who is harming the business. I would give him MINUS STARS...
